The Veronicas were going to perform at Washington, D.C. which would have been the nearest tour date but they canceled the whole American tour! It took me 17 years to finally see them in a city I was in.

It is possible but I would not recommend putting petroleum oils in a PCP airgun as that could be extremely dangerous!

I don’t know. I never tried braided wire and I imagine the tension would be dangerously tight. I actually tuned my experimental bass to a lower tuning to minimize the tension needed to play notes safely.

That’s about preference as they sound different. The Sennheiser MMD 5235 mic capsule that I see often is similar to their cardioid e935 dynamic handheld mic. Has plosive punch from proximity effect and more sibilance which is great for live performance and sounds less harsh than the Shure SM58. The Neumann KMS 105 is a super cardioid condenser which puts out a really flat EQ response, meaning you lack some of that low end punch and the highs are a bit more mellowed out, but the vocals sound very present and don’t get swallowed up in the mix.

Yes I have an Air Arms Pro Sport which has a hidden under lever, and I have a Diana 54 Airking Pro which has a side lever that breaks sideways and has a floating anti-recoil system. These airguns are very accurate, but all those extra metal components make them very heavy compared to a simpler breaking barrel.

Surprisingly I just used the stock Lakland strings from the factory. I think the sound has to do with the 35” long scale and string-through-body which adds tautness because of the sharper bend angle.

Thank you so much. The biggest thing I learned from this project was how much the pickup placement affects the sound regardless of pickup type, like P or J single coils or MM humbucker. Putting the P pickup near the bridge gave me a Warwick Thumb bass tone.

I think the saddle to nut was just 34” long for all strings. Other than that the bass was fretless so intonation was less of a concern vs if it had frets and adjustable bridge saddles.

10 years ago I would’ve laughed at that idea. Now I think I really need to make it clear to viewers that the full auto bit was just a video editing trick!

Depending on what you put in the airgun eventually the seals could degrade from petroleum. I think there’s a specific ratio of fuel to air to get the most efficient bang which probably happens more often after the oil has atomized from a previous shot.

Yeah the MD 5235 capsule for SKM 5000 transmitters is similar to the Sennheiser e935 handheld dynamic mic which I think is the best sounding dynamic mic.

Yes you are correct. A disclaimer saying I claim no responsibly for any injury due to a couple hundred lbs of steel string tension failing is a great idea! I have a traditional 3/4 size Bellafina double bass with a 41” scale length and RotoSound RS4000 nylon strings (synthetic alternative to twangy gut strings) and electric bass strings are too short to cover more than 37”. Also there is no arch to my bridge making bowing the A or D strings near impossible. I could’ve used my thumpy flatwound electric bass strings for a more accurate pizzicato sound instead of the sustained roundwound set I used but flatwounds are less common and too expensive to waste on this project. My style is, like you noticed, to introduce people into a DIY project in the cheapest way possible since I myself don’t readily have the skill, fancy tools and budget to make something that looks more traditional to an upright bass after watching UptonBass and Thomas & George Martin videos.

I never got to compare those combinations but I do know the e935 is my favorite dynamic mic capsule from Sennheiser. I recorded the audio to this video while speaking through an e965 condenser capsule on a Sennheiser D1 digital transmitter.
