This is pretty much a standard scam to any rentals. Make sure to take a 4k video of all the parts of the Jetski, Quad, Car, Boat etc.

Still trying this scam. Tried it on me in 1990. I stood firm refused refused and refused after about an hour or more a local and well dressed eldery man intervened. I paid 1,000Bt bought them all beers and it was done finished. That evening I went to the old mans house with my girlfriend. Him and all his extended family made food and bough whisky we talked and got drunk. He was a bit of a local hero, former US military in Vietnam. vyran

Same thing happened to us in Thailand. My girlfriend and I lost the plastic cover from the side of a scooter probably worth a few dollars to replace and after some discussion and demands for US$300 we were surrounded by a dozen locals some with machetes demanding payment. We eventually negotiated the amount down and caught the first bus out of town. Be really careful when renting vehicles as they see tourists as ATM's.

You didn’t see the damage before renting it ? $1000 seems reasonable. US deductible is $1500 for insurance claims

Hated the place from the second you land at the airport someone in a airport shirt said it was mandatory for them to carry bag and demanded $10au for a 10-meter walk. I told him to go f---ck himself and i physically had to remove his hand from my bag. Great start to a holiday. Yeah right land of smiles that's only from some of the ladies and that's another headache chapter right there! I got robbed on the beach trying to help a elderly woman buying something i didn't need whilst being distracted in front, her accomplice was behind me going through my shopping bag under my chair.

I mean I do not think it's a scam if they damaged it by running it into eachother with jetski rentals... They would have to take it to a shop to repair it to full, even if the damage is cosmetic.... And they will guaranteed lose otherwise potential business every single day that thing is in that shop. And it's also likely the shop isn't going to work on it and finish it on the day you bring it in. 3,000 bhat per day ($82 usd) is not even that much. If you did the same type of damage to one in the USA, it would be a lot more than $82 dollars each day of lost use of the vehicle. Does not seem like a scam in the slightest. If you rented two jetskis in the USA and ran one over the other one right in front of the rental company with no insurance at all. I'd bet money you'd be paying a lot more than 30,000 baht equivalent. The guy said he's only going to pay 2,000 bhat lmao, Bro that's like $60 usd. That repair to BOTH jetskis, plus the business lost with them being repairs is going to be WAAAAAY more than $60 usd out of their pockets. Don't fuck up someone's vehicle and then try to nickel and dime what you think you should pay for damages. Those people are stupid, and you're stupid for thinking this is a scam.
