Why or how does the thinness really matter with knives

I don’t even find it to be fair value, as a consumer not manufacturer of course

Vosteed usually has reasonable pricing, this one seems quite outside, and thinness isn’t some functional and aesthetic aspiration in quite the same way it is for watches, so maybe I’ll wait until few want to buy these at this price and catch them later perhaps.

This looks like a very good knife but not something I would purchase. I have a lot of Kizer knives from premium to budget. All good knives within their price class. I generally do not buy multiple versions of the same knife so I have no interest in new versions of old knives. Kizer’s new knives just don’t interest me. I enjoys my Kizers but I won’t be buying more anytime soon.

Picked up a Bulldog last night, looking forward to it. O. Sho actually designed the Doberman as well, so not entirely new to the scene.

The problem with civivi is that they cost about the same as Kiser, but doesn’t have the same quality. And make knives equivalent in quality as CJRB but is not as cheap. Personally, I feel like Civivi is becoming less and less relevant as Kaiser continues to step up its game and CJRB continues to surprise all of us in design and price.

The thumb stud issue is the same I have with the Chavez Rendocion 229. I love the crap out of it but the thumb stud has to be revisited every time I use it. Once I remember I have it the better it goes. I'm glad you're still holding true to your colors and pointing out the flaws and not being biased. Keep it going!!!! 🍻🔥

I love the Spyderco Military 2. It has become my favorite American made knife of all time. Among my other favorites are the PM2, Shaman and regular Manix 2. I also managed to buy a DLT Trading Exclusive Yojimbo 2 with tan G10 and 20CV. I find myself carrying that a lot this lately. I also really love the Benchmade Griptilian. I've got three of them. A 550, 551 and 556 mini grip. I also really enjoy my Redoubt. No knife collection would be complete without at least one auto. I've had quite a few but until recently when I purchased a Boker AK74 tanto, I only had one and that's the Pro-Tech TR3 X1 SW. I really love that knife. For me, the only way you can improve that is to use a higher end steel but having said that, 154CM is still quite good.

The stiff spring is more than enough assurance, as far as safety goes. Would say button locks & double detent knives are unsafe for how we use these tools.

You nailed it with 'to each their own'. Placing a true value on anything will always vary between people. I have a few $250+ blades - not bragging - I just liked them so I bought them. As just a personal opinion, the only person you have to satisfy when you buy a knife is yourself (and your wife ....). Take care.

@realbroggo I also have blades in that price range, I just personally don't get the $300 Chinese produced slip joint. For not much more I got a hand made Wells Blade Works custom...

Well, past the first tool for each use case, our purchases are about our appreciation of the tool. There's a lot of both functionality & artistic execution in Jack Wolf Knives. I could elaborate, but you get the idea. Hope this helps.

@Krusher_Knave I get appreciation for a tool, but not that price at all. I wonder how much less it could be without the fancy packaging and pog that I absolutely couldn't care less about. Again, I got a one of a kind usa handmade custom locking folder for not much more... im not saying people shouldn't enjoy them by any means, and I know people do because every model sells out they're just not for me at all in this price range.

As a user & collector I care. Most of my gents knives are 'fancy' slip joints - for various reasons. However, when it comes to pretty much everything else I use a locking knife. In most cases I guess it just comes down to person choice & taste. Buy what you like so you can like what you buy. Take care.

They are easier to use than most modern folders made now days, as they have very thin blades. They just take a hair longer to utilize. Effectively made folders have their place for their speed & efficiency, but slip joints are the amalgamation of a knife enjoyers appreciation towards their tool for everything that makes it what it is.

It is astonishing how many people get caught up in gimmicky “features”. How much is this thing? Because my Cobratec LARGE CTK-1 is aesthetically pleasing (with the color I chose), the action is buttery smooth, and it didn’t break the bank. Got it with a double edge dagger blade and an additional wharncliffe blade AND a window breaker delete end cap, all for $180. It is D2 steel which isn’t that gucci steel tier everyone drools over, but I’m one for functionality and that steel is perfect. I use it enough that it wouldn’t rust anyway which is the only downside of D2🤷‍♂️🫡
