The amount of "if you're mature enough you'll be fine on a 1000 for your first bike" or "you'll get bored of a 600" comments I hear and read all the time is embarrasing.

Oh I got chewed out for doing this. I used to ride a dirtbike as a kid and learned about having the brakes covered the hard way (deer in forest jumped in front of me). Had to do the licence without covering the brakes, but hey it is controlled environment so that was not really stressing me out. Then once I got my licence, the two fingers came back. Also the instructor was really bad, wonder how many of students of his ended up injured or worse because of the bad advice he gave. E.g. he genuinely hated the idea of countersteering and was adamant that the only way to steer is to lean and lean as hard as you can, MotoGP style. We would have to lean to do fast slalom... (you can't do it without countersteering in general, especially on 1000cc bike at 35mph/50kmph so you'd countersteer still but like covertly and then he'd be like "see, told you leaning more would do it"). Oh and this was not like 20 years ago. I did my licence last year.

What about the engine warmup the engine before acceleration

I guess MotoJitsu does not realize that 600cc supersports are uncomfortable for taller/bigger people hence why they get 1000cc and stick it in C mode. Happens all the time. If they decide to put it in A mode and send it thats the rider, not the bike. 1000cc are fine if you got money $$$ to spend on a bike with superior handling and brakes. We all know a Ninja 400 has shit brakes compared to a stock super bike.

I 💯 agree .. however, if there is someone who is very disciplined and respect what the 1000cc bike power can do and keep it in a low power mode, it can be tamed. Most aren't capable of discipline and self control... If that's the case, be humble and stay away from a 200 hp bike. I'm perfectly happy with my 2022 cf moto 650nk and really not interested in anything bigger than this. 65hp and 48 lbs of torque is enough for me. Seriously. Picked it up for 3999 and 5800 out the door. Love this bike and so far it's been perfectly fine. Don't need a 1000cc bike. Ive been 125mph on this bike and it's plenty enough unless someone is planning to run from cops... Lol

Honestly i love my ninja 400. Only reason I would want a bigger bike is because it feels so slow when I have my gf on the back and the preload is a pain. For riding alone, the 400 is so nice.

I´m glad I bought my ninja 400 a year ago, I was scared at first as a almost 40 new rider, and not tall too...maybe in the future I´ll make the upgrade with a more powerful bike, something good for touring and more comfortable. Recommandations are welcome!

Any fool can go FAST ... with a twist of acceleration ... !!!! Real skills comes in SLOW riding, Twisty cornering, hazardous Braking etc.etc. I believe great riding in Slow mid-speed riding, satisfying cornerings on Twistys with excellent control Brakings ( being able to avoid accidents ) and these all need one's SKILLS ... !!!!! 😎

@dennisgibb79583 сағат бұрын
I can’t agree with you on this point. The R3 is too small for someone 6 foot 7, besides the R3 is not a good learning bike. I know of many people that jumped on a liter bike as the first and they are perfectly fine. Granted they were not 18-25 which makes a big difference. Maturity is the real issue. Hell, it ain’t even how I started. I only ride an R1 because I know how fast it is. On a 600 I would probably be in county. As far as your requirements for buying a liter bike, Legally in the US you can not mandate or require this kind of gibberish. It violates the personal choice that exists in law. It also violates fair business practices. Yes the UK has it, different government and rights. By your standards I could not buy a Ferrari because I have not passed tests and corses. Yet it is my money. Nope, can’t agree or even understand a socialist way of determining who is allowed to buy what…..

The driving school i was at had a Rebel 300 and a MT-07. After just a few weeks i crossed over to the MT-07 and since i practised with this bike for weeks before i got my license, i felt at home on the bike so i bought one as my first bike. Then 6-8 months later my buddy was going overseas to work and i got to buy his R1M for a super cheap price. Took me a couple of months then i sold it because it scared the sh!t out of me and im sure that i would have died on that monster. Got a profit without doing anything to it but that was the only positive thing about it. I do have a speed demon inside of me so sticking to a MT-07 is only good, the speed demon cant come out like it did on the R1M. GOnna buy a MT-09 next year. Love the Yams

The guy must’ve never rode 70s bike. The brakes were terrible. If you didn’t wanna shift a lot, you’d rev the shit out of the engine pull in the clutch before a corner, and slowly ease out the clutch in the corner. I always called it engine breaking.

Going fast in the twisties on the street is dangerous and people would argue you shoulden't be doing that anyway on the street. You are putting yourself and other people in danger all because you want to hit that corner really fast just like your on the track. Going fast in the twisties is responsible for alot of motorcycle death's and crashes that include cars. If a motorcycle rider is " lazy, and super slow " in the corners I would argue they are being safer on the road and respecting other drivers. You wanna go fast in the twisties take it to the track. Also, if you cant pass another motorcycle rider in a corner while they are going that slow sounds like you need to brush up on your cornering skills, lol.

You have a point. But let’s be honest here for a moment. The reason these people are going slow in the corners are not because they are respectful. They are doing that because they don’t have the skill and they get scared if they push it too hard. It’s okey to be scared and not to have the skill, one should just stick to the bike that corresponds to there level. One day they might have the skill if they make the effort but they should respect the process like with everything else in life.
@JD-fd6gtСағат бұрын
@@sebba2top Your making an assumption about a rider going through the turns slow. If they are going slow they and other drivers around them are safer, so whats your point? A rider who weighs 240+ pounds wont be comfy on a 600, so they get a GSXR 1000 instead. Happens all the time.
@sebba2topСағат бұрын
@@JD-fd6gt first of all, a 1000 cc is like 5% more comfy than a 600. I should know since I’m rather big myself. If I want to prioritize comfort, I would never buy a sports bike, it just wouldn’t make sense. My point is simply that reality is reality and it is worth to point it out if there is any doubt about it. My experience is that there is too little confrontation about this to be healthy. It is like Greg said, if people focused more on learning before buying a powerful bike, there would be less accidents. Even if people try to go slow when they are insecure, one time or another, they will underestimate their speed into a situation. What I am saying is that people should at least be informed what experienced and skilled riders think. They should be confronted with the truth.

I am finally figuring out the whole cornering thing, and although I'm not yet ready for my Big Girl Bike, I feel like I will be by next Spring. Thanks FE for your wisdom and continuing willingness to share it - I feel like I have an upper hand out there as a result of your channel.

There’s nothing in the motorcycle world that annoys me more than the ‘bro your going to get bored with that in a month get at least a 600 sport bike’ or the ‘sportsters are slow girls bikes do yourself a favor and get the 1200 right away’. In my opinion, a 600 sport bike or even an 883 are still WAY TOO MUCH bike for someone who’s never touched a motorcycle. I’ve seen so many first time riders eat it big time learning on a 50-125cc dirt bike, let alone a 600 pound cruiser or a sport bike that does 150mph effortlessly. START SMALL GUYS it’s not a competition to see who can wrap it around a tree first.
