Cool and innovative design. I'd be worried about humidity and internal corrosion making it all bind up into a solid piece.

At first, we loved LPL making fun of crappy commercial locks. Little did we know that started redhat-bluehat revolution to design better and better locks. Just like they do in cyber security!

an unpickable lock only works if you have an unbreakable door

For what it's worth, while it'll never find commercial success in home locks for doors, vault lock mechanisms and the like have no upper limit for complexity or cost. Take a look at Fichet Bauche safe locks. They're essentially safe locks designed by someone who must have had a crossover passion with watch making or something else. Incredibly expensive and complex (but also beautiful). Great job!

Couldn't you just use Wire Edm to create a 0 tolerance lock, and that lock would then no longer be pickable? Or am I missing something?

What if you make a lock that detects if you are trying to pick it and if I does it like double locks itself?? Idk.

It acts almost like a fluid to reset picked pins. Overset a pin and it will force the other pins down.

Your ball bearing idea is interesting but I don't think it actually acts much different than individual springs. In reality they will only "force" the other pins down when you're trying to overset them. Sure it will increase pressure a _bit_ as you get pins set but once a pin is set it will still bind the same

I hope this is unpickable and i hope you start machineing them from tough metals and then I want at least two. Yes I understand you may have to sell these for like $1,000 and I'm ok with buying one for every door I own. Np price is too high to ensure the safety of my loved ones.

Improvement suggestion: Varied pin/plate thickness. Since they're essentially a stack, the size and number of pins isn't inherently fixed. In addition to making picking a bit more difficult, it could potentially thwart some impressioning attacks.

I thought there is a lock that can't be picked because the keyway is like a snake the key is inserted like an injection. As picking tool are all straight trying to picked something that's curve S way is kind of hard to pick.

Why not allow any combination of input(key) twist the core, and when the core is twisted 1/2 way check the input? That way an attacker cannot lock up any pins while the input is being checked. This maybe able to create a simpler pick proof lock.

I would say patent this design before Master Lock steals it, but we all know Master Lock would rather just keep making cheap locks that don't work.

You can perform a disassembly attack since its stacked the first layer is the key. Also bearing will be rusty since it have gap between plates. Try to have the key in an angle like 5 degrees transposed. With the same setup you same ,picker will have eternity.

a lock simply doesnt need to be pick proof, it just needs to keep you from entering for a prolonged period of time. if your lock could keep a person out for 5 minutes that could be enough to keep the person from stealing shit from your shed.

a few ideas 1) side pins that drop into divots in the side of the key, even if they are normal pins this would add a lot more to do without making the lock any larger 2) use a couple gears to make it work backwards, every lock out there turns to the right to unlock and pickers are used to working that way, simply forcing them to go the other way makes things odd and is enough to mess with the pickers head a little 3) using the gears in #2 you can make it require 2+ rotations of the lock to fully open the bolt, you might get lucky once like you did that night before but to do it multiple times in a row will take a bit more time 4) i know this is a LOT to add to a an already complex design but it would step up the difficulty... similar to some car keys, adding a chip reader and chip in the key would stop random pic attacks from doing anything, have something drive a locking pin in somewhere thats NON magnetic and even if someone picks it they still cant get in without the chip code.
