Yeah, it's a bad connection sounds like. You might be able to just reseat the breaker (pull out and put back to clean the contacts). Or the screw that connects the wire to the breaker might have corrosion. Hopefully it's something simple right there.

When my alternator locked up, was able to catch it before the belt fried. After seeing the sticker shock as you did, I was able to find OEM (not John Deere, but the actual bearing manufacturer) replacement bearings online for $12 each in 2017. The mnfctr name is stamped on the side of the bearing. So if you have the ability to remove/replace them that's another option. Personally I like ur solution and uprating the alternator output.

If you put a pipe or fasten a 5 gallon bucket possibly depending on the dimensions but put a intake tube maybe 2 foot long something to concentrate the airflow and force it to go by the electric motor a lot more effectively maybe a garbage can and cut bottom off self tap it through the lip around the perimeter of the intake. Should give you massive airflow over the motor then throw an air filter on it if you wanna get fancy lol

That's not a bad idea. My HVAC friend who gave it to me suggested I build a box once the motor started overheating. I've thought about that but always had more pressing projects. I'd like to incorporate a way to direct the airflow more though.

This type of motor is actually designed to run under a load. If you don't have load or restriction on the intake side it's going to free spin too easily overspeed And thermal overload pretty common issue..... Not sure maybe it’s not working as hard. Doesn’t have pressure on it all the time keeping it up so all the fluid just settles and you’re not using it very often so it’s only a little chance for a little bit of it to leak out. That’s my guess.

Wrap the outside of the tank in bubble wrap insulation used for ductwork and it will solve your problem for around 35 to 40$
@TheRoostersGarage
@TheRoostersGarage Ай бұрын
The issue isn't keeping the water hot, this heater just doesn't really heat the water. The outside is always room temperature, so it's not losing a lot through lack of insulation. Wrapping it was my first thought when I started having issues. It's got several sensors and I thought it was a higher performance heater based on the specs. Instead it's primary design is to be energy efficient. It's always giving me warnings and recommendations because I have it set to 135, rather than a more energy efficient 120

I've been using my dad's 455 to take care of their acreage after he passed a couple years ago, and I try to keep up on maintainence. However I am having issues with it running well consistently. At times, I can crank and crank and nothing happens, no vapor or smoke out the exhaust. Other times it'll puff some white vapor then goes black as it starts up. When it runs the throttle control is very responsive and it mows and runs very well. I got a few hours of mowing in and then it started to bog so I shut down the deck and it ended up dying. I tried to start it back up and it was struggling to start.. It eventually did start, but then experienced engine runaway (no idea why this happened and I have not noticed any oil consumption - just changed the oil also). I immediately pulled the intake tube and blocked it with my hand and it died within about 5 seconds (as I prayed it wouldn't explode in my face) The fuel pump does run, I get flow to the filter, and past. The fuel cutoff solenoid engages quickly and pulls all the way back. I have not checked the glow plugs, injectors, compression, or adjusted the valves, I don't know how to check the injection pump (hoping this isn't the problem), and don't know what other components I need to look at. I have changed the fuel filter, checked the fuel pump and cleaned the screen to allow better flow, fresh oil change and fresh transaxle fluid change. Im very puzzled that it sometimes is hard to start, and other times not so much, and also confused that it ran very well as I was mowing. I am lost and need guidance on what I need to look into, test, and fix. I'm very behind on mowing there for my mom and need help getting this back into Where should I start? Thank you in advance and sorry this is so long, I just wanted to give insight on what is happening and what I've done /haven't done so far.

@TheRoostersGarage Ай бұрын
I'm sorry my response has taken so long. KZfaq for some reason flagged this as a spam comment and I don't check the spam folder regularly. I'm no expert but I'd put money on low compression especially since you experienced a runaway. How many hours are on the motor? You might want to take it to a shop and let them look it over to ensure you don't have another runaway and ruin this since I'm sure it most likely holds sentimental value for you. If it wasn't for the runaway issue, I'd suggest trying some more things but knowing it's runaway once, if it were me I'd want a professional to look it over.
