Which one can I be faster on, self propelled or push. We have a used craftsman self propelled, but I usually push it because it feels too slow. But it may just be the machine.
@richardl372011 ай бұрын
Push mower all day Push is much faster as I can throw it around, back and fourth, trimming around trees etc. They usually put a smaller engine on the push. Wish someone sold a light push with a powerful engine

Kawasaki hands down the fx 730v is one of the most bulletproof engines out there if taken care of. 1500hrs guaranteed with regular oil changes. Easily can get much more out of it too

Good video! For me it’s “push mower” all the way! I’m getting older, have some big hills in my yard, and needed a new mower so I got a self propelled mower thinking it would be better. I was wrong lol! I can’t stand the self propelled mower. That thing is heavy, bulky, hard to maneuver around, and it takes longer to get my yard cut with it somehow? I’m selling it and buying another push mower lol! My yard is about 1/2 a acre fyi

Great comparison and it does helps. For me as a visual person, I would have loved to see them in action. I have a push mower and riding mower, but I never tried the self-propelled. I don't have an acre yard but it's big enough, and I know I will need to replace both of my lawnmowers soon.

the problem with SP mower is that in theory the SP seems easier for hills and what not, but there always comes a time where you have to pull the mower up a hill for some reason or have to pull it from time to time. When you have to do that it's much more difficult to deal with because it's much heavier than a regular mower. It's also, another thing to break down on the mower. And, when the SP breaks down, believe me a light push mower would be better to have. And, if you have a flat yard, why in the world do you need SP to begin with???

At 6' 4" tall I don't find pushing a mower a big issue. It's just finding one where the bar comes up high enough I can push it efficiently. Most of them seem like they're designed for 5' tall people or something. I've even though about trying to build a custom bar for my cheap push mower.

i had a lawn service for 7 years and mowed 45 lawns a week with a lawnboy mower. The mower was fantastic EXCEPT for the self propelled. The self propel slowed me down bigtime. I was young then but to me the self propel just wasnt worth the money and i think the extra weight makes it harder to maneuver. I still believe a simple push mower is the way to go....

Thanks your video was helpful. My current Tecumseh Crafstman (push) mower was given to me as a house warming gift 23 years ago. Just rebuilt the carb and its still starts and runs like a champ - although the deck is showing some rust through. I've been looking at some of the new Toro Super Recyclers but your video has given me reason to stop and think. I have a suburban lot 50'x120' lot, relatively flat and when you subtract the house, garage, landscaping etc. I estimate about 4000 sq. ft. of lawn with plenty of turns and obstructions - now I'm thinking a better push mower would be a better buy than a SP unit. Thanks.

69 years old, and I use and want a push mower. Get one with oversized back wheels and it is a breeze to maneuver. I can also lift it into the back of my pickup by myself if I need to. I don't have acreage, maybe 5000-6000 square feet. I see no reason to have a heavier, more complicated mower.

Self propelled: Great for lazy and/or elderly people. Heavier. More things to break. Push: Great for a very light workout. Lighter. Less things to break. Push-1 Self-propelled-0. Push is better in most cases.
