Always have a second set of hands lifting out or fitting back in window. Easy to do but can easy drop out when the last screw comes out

You got to wonder why professional roofers are watching these videos and then criticising 🤔🤣… he found the leak and fixed it. I’ve had several ‘professional’ roofers do several bodge jobs and not fix a thing.

You could have trimmed the ragged ends of the old membrane as they serve no purpose and eave protectors should be under the membrane as was said already. Well done for having a go at fixing a roof anyway, just they need ladders etc makes them a pain. I’ve a phobia of heights so it’s tough tackling my roof but I did it.

About to start on doing this on an acre of land with no trees...This is helpful. I think I will go with 6fters in the front for an instant privacy hedge and some of these smallers for the sides. appreciate the tips mate.

Honestly, you get what you pay for & this is evident from the workmanship. All cables lying around, not a cable cleat in site. Looking at the single cable down to the switches I’d assume they’ve used a 3 plate method, but regs now we should be taking the feed to the switch, so this already doesn’t comply with latest regs. Shame on them.

Roof tiles are cheap. Felts cheap . Battens cheap. Why would you make a video using cheap nasty flashband . It’s temporary roof repair tape. Makes me laugh when I see people like this trying to do it themselves and they just cause more damage and problems, then wonder why it’s costing so much to remove everything. Take advice people . Do not listen or take advise from this clown who made this video

Hey great video! When you’re caulking and you take it up the wall would you continue to the roof or just where necessary?

Hi mate, I scanned my renault clio 2013 and I got this main error Dtc80df1b, my airbag lights are on (they suddenly one day just turned on), do you thing this could be my issue? Thanks in advance.

I had a little water coming into my loft where the lead was covering the tiles where you put the flash banding (water was tracking underneath like yours for the same reason - not enough overlap), but I used some leadmate caulking between the tiles and the lead flashing. It did the trick and has lasted a few years, but I might try the flash banding you used next time - I don't know if it was around when I used the leadmate. As a DIYer myself, I was impressed by how you interpreted how things went together, why, and how you could make it better. Keep up the good work!

Have people on here not realised this was a DIY job? Nicely done, some issues yes, but it'll be watertight until the life of the roof comes to an end and probably saved you not much change out of a grand 👍

Did the same to my conservatory a few weeks ago. Didn't have a "proper" chemical myself so just used some Bilt hamber Surfex HD (apc). As I have a garden and 2 cats didn't really want to use any toxic chemicals because of that as well.

add some sort of mesh to the product even if it says it doesnt need it. that or ger a product that needs it because i dont care what it says it always needs mesh over openings like that. it will seal it for some time but not nearly as long as it could be sealed.

I have a small garden at the front of my house. The soil is hard it’s hard to dig there was a bush in there before many years ago but they took it out if I do this it would fit about 2 bush trees width and maybe 4 along the front I want this for privacy. Do I need to put different soil down?
@froywhernside
@froywhernside 4 ай бұрын
I would turn the soil as much as possible to get air into it, make sure all the roots are removed from the old bush and then mix in some fresh top soil or compost to give them the bast chance

Please I had a front half roof replaced on 1900s terraced house. The reason the roof failed of 40 years maybe, was the felt at the eaves had disintergrated allowing water that had penetrated the roof slates to not to reach the gutter. The roof was fitted recently with no eaves suport trays. I insisted the roofer fit them eaves support trays, he said I did not need them. I told him that modern current practices would include them on a replacement roof. From my commonsense am I right and should they be fitted as normal practice? Many thanks
@froywhernside
@froywhernside 4 ай бұрын
I'm not a roofer but I don't see why they would not be fitted. They stop the membrane sagging long-term.
@michaelmercury1256
@michaelmercury1256 4 ай бұрын
@@froywhernside Many thanks, every other person except my roofer completely agrees the need for the trays to be fitted. After a direct request my roofer fitted the eaves trays, requiring the new slates to be refitted to allow the trays to be nailed to the rafters. Commonsense many thanks for your confirmation.

Quick update, I did it and it worked! I can't stress enough how awkward and heavy a window can be, the one I did was wider square shaped window and I hugely underestimated it's weight. Even though you can lift it, making the tiny manoeuvres needed to line up the screw holes is super awkward so I'd recommend doing it with someone else to feed the screws in while you hold it. Thanks loads for your video, there are a lot on here of this job and this is by far the most comprehensive. 👌
