This build is super nice but it's funny that u keep taking credit for stuff we've been watching on KZfaq for years. 😅 Good job Dude
@Petsthatdontbark5 ай бұрын
What did I take credit for specifically? I am just a little confused.
@Og_Mandingo5 ай бұрын
When you were talking about how flimsy the foam was you were like "well, I had an idea 🤔 let's see if it works." And then proceeded to cover it with grout and dry lock. Or when you called the top soil and play sand "our own special mix." I can't say that your technically taking credit but the language you're using is incredibly misleading for someone who doesn't watch these types of videos all the time. They're made to believe that you came up with these methods when we both know you didn't. I'm sure if I watched the video again I'd be able to point out a few more but those were the two things that stood out the most.
@Petsthatdontbark5 ай бұрын
Well I appreciate the feedback, but grout on foam then drylok actually was an idea I had without seeing anyone else do it, I saw a lot of people just driylok the foam without grout. So if someone else has done it I did not see that video or idea anywhere before I came upon the idea myself, there is a phrase for this. It is called multiple discovery, meaning people in two different areas can come up with the same idea. So the idea was indeed mine, to my knowledge, and even so I said “I had an idea” not I came up with this new solution no one ever thought of before. I can take credit for my own ideas. Even if someone else has also had the idea. As for the mix, I have said in other videos my mix ratios, instead of going through the whole mix ratio again I just said my special mix, referencing the mix ratio I use, lots of people use different ratios, and yes I have my own “special” ratio. Hope that helps clear it up! Thanks for the comment and the watch!

Do these have that deadly bacteria in their mouths
@Petsthatdontbark5 ай бұрын
That’s fantastic knowledge! Most people aren’t aware of that. However, it is not actually true, monitors are actually venomous, it’s not bacteria even though that was what we used to think. Their venom is not really dangerous though, it increases bleeding, but when dealing with small monitors it just means your paper cut bleeds a bit longer! Also these ones are actually very mellow, never seen one bite.

@@Petsthatdontbark I used to some years ago, an assortment of reptiles really, a little bit of everything. Growing up, I was introduced to a Nile monitor through a friend, and thought it was absolutely amazing, and have been hooked on monitors since. Me and you both know how much work can go into the proper husbandry of even a Savannah monitor, so now that I have kids and work full time, I’ve unfortunately had to go with simpler species of reptiles, likely until my kids are grown and i can invest more time in something like a monitor, or even Tegu.
@Petsthatdontbark4 ай бұрын
Understandable! My son actually gave up video games entirely to have the reptiles and he is a huge help! So that’s one reason we can take care of all the animals. Also we stick to dwarf monitors for a reason!

I am sorry to hear it makes you sad, if it makes you feel any better, Ackies are burrowers and will just settle in for a nap! We also always ship Priority overnight, so they are never in the box longer than 24 hours. We also ship ourselves in planes in tight quarters all the time.

I added the extra layers to seal the grout and then as paint as well for looks. I have complete access to the nesting box. I thought about access to the rest of the substrate but was worried that putting in some sort of access would weaken the area, and there is a lot of dirt weight. Thank you man!
