For me, it's more about it being the second worst movie batmobile. It looks like a giant Glade Plug-in Air Freshener on wheels. I don't need this in the collection for that reason, ha ha. I'd maybe still want Alfred though, if offered in a single pack.

Toast is on the fence on if he wants to continue it all, but I think he's going to at least listen to this one to finish out the trilogy and then make a decision, similar to you and me. I'm only about an hour in so far, but I can tell you is this. Within the first three paragraphs of chapter 1, I was furious, and then I had kind of forgotten it, and then the last two sentences of chapter 1 made me furious again. I'll leave it at that for now. We'll see how the rest goes.... 😂😂 I think we talked about the second one briefly and one of our podcast episodes. We didn't feel like it deserved an entire episode of this, haha

I tried the Vallejo paints you suggested after priming with Tamiya spray primer. I then used Mr. Hobby Super Clear Matt. Even though the color was a great match, the paint and finish never really to dry. I used the airbrush version of the paints with a lttle flow improver. How sturdy are the boots you painted? I had to strip it all down and now back to square one. Any thoughts? The Edge of the lower legs where it meets the ankle joints were particularly problematic, with the paint either "bunching up" or outright kind of rubs or "soft chips" off.
@VoidCityReviews
@VoidCityReviews 8 күн бұрын
I'm sorry to hear you had issues with it. But you also mentioned using multiple other products with your paints that I didn't use, or using different paints completely than I did. I can't really help you there on that one because I'm not sure why they failed. You did wash the figure first, correct? Before you started painting it all? And you let all of your layers completely cure and dry before adding more layers? If the primer wasn't completely set that could have been a problem, same with putting the clear coat or the matte coat on top of the acrylics, if nothing was dry yet. That's all I can really think of other than there being mold release agent still on the figure that wasn't washed off that ruined the paint. I have yet to have a problem with these paints on these figures. I don't use primer. I will have an updated version of this Superman sort of, and a newer video coming soon, and it does not require repainting of the boots. It actually doesn't require paint really of any kind. That's the best part of it. That video will be up soon. In the meantime, again I'm sorry to hear that you had issues with this, however it does sound like both times you did it you did it completely differently than I did, so unfortunately I can't really do anything other than guests at what the issue could have been like I did above. I hope it works out in the end though. And if it doesn't, I hope the new video I put up for the newer version of this superman, will help you out.

I think books like The Major need to be approached knowing what to expect. All of the latest Moebius work (from the 2000's) has been mostly introspective end experimental, and not created with a cohesive story in mind (except for maybe the Arzach sequel, 'L'arpenteur'). If you are fine with that, then you can really enjoy this book.

Moebius (and some other French/Belgian catoonists too) has been kind of a difficult case to me as well. Tone and style of his stories varies so much, from very traditional adventure to weird experimantal ..things that its hard to be sure how much I like his works. But I'm definitely same with you when it comes to importance of art vs story. Comic is primarily a visual medium to me. I often use this as an example to make my argument about that: "You can tell a comic story without a single word and it can work perfectly, but you cannot have a story without any pictures, or then it would be a novel." When I started to read a lot of manga, my opinion has shifted even more to that direction, to a point I'm questioning the need for "just writers" in comics period. Yet somehow, (yes, I know its probably because they can control writers, but artists can jump ship because they are less dependent on on publisher giving them work) especially the big american publishers promote writers over all.

The Zuul head coming with this set is so annoying, First you have to get all of the figures from 2020 to get Vinz Clortho, then you gotta get them all a second time as well as this very expensive set to build a second Vinz Clortho and add the Zuul head if you want the two terror dogs. They really should've just done what Diamond Select did, make a standalone terror dog figure with both heads in the box. Don't you think it's weird that there are almost no ghosts in this line? The slimed Ghostbusters not having a Slimer to go with them is bizarre- he's even ON their boxes!
@VoidCityReviews
@VoidCityReviews 24 күн бұрын
It's really not that bad at all. That's not how you get both dogs. Louis Tully comes in a set with a full Terror dog (Vinz Clortho). The set is called "Tully's Terrible Night." Then the build-a-figure wave comes with the other one you build (also labeled as Vinz, but just switch the head). There you go. All the figures, no repeats, both terror dogs. I would still like a Slimer, though.

Hi Void. I have a question. It seems like it is possible to remove the boots from the lower legs from various figures, like Superman Rebirth, Rebirth from the Ultraman 2 pack, even Infected Superman and possibly the original McFarlane Bizarro figure. I would like, if possible, to remove the red boots (ankle and feet) from the Rebirth figure in the Ultraman 2 pack and put it on the lower legs of the original solo Rebirth figure. I would also like to take the Infected Superman boots, ankles and feet and put him on the earlier Bizarro (I have already swapped the Infected Supes trunks with Bizarro). Do you have any experience with this? I have heated up and pulled at the parts and it appears they might be seperate pieces, but I am afraid of ruining them. Can you provide any insights, tips, or tricks on how to accomplish this successfully if it is indeed possible? Thanks!
@VoidCityReviews
@VoidCityReviews Ай бұрын
I (Toast) haven't specifically swapped Superman boots between figures, but I have swapped Batman boots, and various forearm guards. Everything has been a soft rubbery overlay glued on top of the hard plastic of the limbs. I get it hot -- usually water or hair dryer -- and take a tiny flathead screwdriver to slip under the overlay, breaking through the glue. It usually takes multiple heatings, but I haven't damaged anything in the process. Also note: pieces are sometimes specially shaped. I've dremmeled the inner side of forearm guards to get them on a different figure before.
@VoidCityReviews
@VoidCityReviews Ай бұрын
Dan here. Toast answered it pretty much perfectly. I have switched boots before, but I have switched more arm guards, but it is the same principle. Essentially the forearm or the shin is thinner underneath and the boot is a soft overlay glued on top. Because there is glue up and down usually the whole inside of that thing, like toast said, it'll take multiple times heating it up and prying at it carefully in order to get it off, but with patience and heat, you should be able to get it. In my own personal customization, I find that using water works a bit better than heat because it will heat the entire thing evenly including the plastic underneath and soften up the glue a lot more than just a heat gun on the outside will do. So that would be my one recommendation is to have some water that you boiled and then take it off of the fire but then keep using that hot water. I would say dunk for 1 minute, to get them very soft and pliable and then work for about a minute, or until you really notice the plastic start to firm up again. The second it does, throw it right back in the water and get it soft again.
