Thank you; I can say Taskrabbit is a BIG massive SCAM!!….you register with your account details & then they take money out of your account without doing any work!! I have had to lodge a complaint against them & instructed my bank to chase my money! Got my money close my account with Taskrabbit & uninstalled the apps to be sure it’s dead to me!! Pls don’t be fooled by their advertisements; search for your local gardeners or handymen!! That’s what I had to do in the end!!

Ikea just returned to flat rate assemblies. I've accepted 3 jobs coming up next week, but I can already see this isn't going to work out. I was charging $35 hourly and even according to Taskrabbit's scale that was low. With the flat rates, jobs will be roughly $15-20 hourly, and that decreases with every passing hour. I'm going to see how this week goes, but I already know I'm canceling. I'm hoping other Taskers boycott these flat rates as well.

I am learning this the hard way. They moved back to flat rate, I will never touch a pax closet ever again.

Does anyone had a difficulty inputting the ZIP code from Toronto? It doesn't get accepted. The support told me to put the city but it doesn't work eather. 😭

There is still a market for Taskers. I am not currently doing it, but when I log back in it seems that the hourly rates have increased across the board for the tasks. If you sign up use the code XRM5TJQ

If you need to have business liability insurance, I think that's too much financial investment for average people. As a 1099 contractor, if it complicates up your tax, and you need to get a CPA, then that's gonna be extra cost. It seems like taskrabbit is for people who are self-employment oriented

It's a 1099 independent contractor no shit...who doesn't get that , really should stay working for a boss. All you do is track milage, gas, expenses And no you don't make less really, if you know how to write everything off ! Taxes are not that bad. You set 25-30 percent aside for taxes to be very safe.

They must've changed it, I just started over a month ago and everything is straight hourly and you can rough estimate with the client ahead of time how long or short each task might take.
@lifewithmandn9282 жыл бұрын
You can for the furniture assembly task category. but not for the Ikea Furniture assembly task where they dictate how long it will take you and pay you a base rate per hour for that dictated time.
@motherfudger66642 жыл бұрын
Not sure how that is, IKEA has been the same for me as all other tasks and I'm halfway to elite in IKEA right now and my invoices are always the actual hours worked. Of course it helps to give clients honest estimates in the chat ahead of time, and I generally over-estimate to be on the safe side.

So would something like data entry… that requires business liability insurance?
@lifewithmandn9282 жыл бұрын
Yes, as you are not an employee. It is unlikely, but what if the business you did data entry came back to you because the input was wrong and it lost them money. You want liability insurance to cover you in those unlikely scenarios.

I’m a Tasker also and here is a funny story from a recent task I had. I was forced to assemble a PAX sliding rail closet, upright, because the crazy couple thought a 93-1/8inch closet was necessary for their 95inch ceiling height room, after I explained throughly that can’t recommend that closet for that room for various reasons. After over 4hours finishing the assembly they complained that I had scratched their precious new hardwood floor and even refused to pay.
@UrFavDudeOnUtube4 жыл бұрын
Did you take before and after photo of the product and the surfaces you worked on? If it already had an scratch on it, you could show the client and tell them you’ll forward the photos to your supervisor. I’m sure they would’ve paid you right away.

Haha. I ran into this issue quite a bit when the IKEA task were based on a "one price estimate". I think they changed the platform though. Now a client can hire you at your specific "furniture assembly rate". Those PAX units...ugghh i remember going over the time limit every time.

Paul C thanks for the comment! Yes, this would be the way to go if you are worried about KMs. It requires some other skills, but it is not hard to learn and you can choose the skills you want to work with on TaskRabbit. Definitely some pros and cons with the platform and it is better if it is a side job rather than a full time gig

Was it your fault the item broke? Did you have to pay out of pocket?
@lifewithmandn9285 жыл бұрын
Fritz Krieger Yes, though I applied minimal pressure to the spacer, it did crack under pressure that I put on it. It’s just better to be safe with some ikea pieces. Did not have to pay out of pocket, I just went to IKEA and they happened to have another piece on hand. They did say it was the last one, I don’t know what would happen if they did not have another one. Worst case scenario is that id have to buy the unit. Because on TaskRabbit, you are the contractor and not an employee, it is your reputation on the line. Better to pay out of pocket if need be.
