There's another point you aint covered- they actually turned guys away from recruiting not just because they were white, but because they didn't have qualifications, but here's the thing, they didn't have GCSE's, but they did have a bachelors degree (which is significantly higher).

I am 18 Years old and from Britain. I am happy about the policy. Serving your nation for a year is the perfect way to enable the youth of a nation to build national pride and also build valuable personal skills such as discipline. The fact is as well that most 18 year olds won't do any active service and instead do some charity work which is a net benefit as well.

As a Brit my feeling is that wars are started and continued only for the interests of the political, ruling classes ( yes this is actually a genuine class in the UK in 2024!). I know no one who is prepared to kill or die for the bastards who have been running this country into the ground for their own interests for decades.
