How do I find a reputable breeder in Northeast usa? Seems so few kittens around? Ear trouble, so no flying for now, or I would go anywhere in the world to find a kitten. I fell in love w blue Birman years ago when I cat sat for a friend each winter. Zephyr was so sweet playful, gentle, and gorgeous. I promised myself so day I would have my own Birman. Dimply adore the breed, they are indeed puppy like

I recommend you try www.birmansusa.com there is a breeder register on there so hopefully you'll be able to find someone within a fairly sensible travelling distance to you. Good luck with your search.

Hi. Fellow persian owner here, noticed you skipped right past the rear legs once the cat showed they weren't up for it! Any tips? I find they hate having their rear legs pulled out so I can get into the bits that are hard to get a comb into.

Really it's just a case of doing a bit at a time and not letting it become a battle. It's better to wait several hours or until the next day to tackle the bit you had to skip because the cat had reached their tolerance level. Fern (the cat in the video) isn't the easiest cat to groom, so normally I'd do part of her in the morning then leave her to settle before finishing the job later in the afternoon.

I don't remove the claws (an activity that is illegal in the UK, thank goodness), I clip the sharp tip of the claw, rather like cutting your own nails. Doing this means that the kittens/cats don't cause damage to furniture if they scratch or climb on them, they also can't cause as much damage to me as I'm handling them as kittens are very playful and sometimes try to jump out of my hands or climb my legs.

VERY CUTE, can't wait to get our Birmans soon - question: I like a Lilac point Kitten but by the time I can get her, she will be 4 months and 2 weeks -- is there a HUGE different in term of bonding with my daughters? I know the earlier the better, but she's afraid that the kitten is too "old" for her to recognize her before she goes to college in September? I don't think it matters, do you? Otherwise, we have 2 boys of 3 months and 2 weeks for possible purchase from France (we are in Switzerland) anyway; thus 1mo. younger....

No, you will be able to bond with kittens at 18 weeks just as easily as if they were younger.

Finding show quality Birmans in Canada is like looking for a needle in a haystack. I would want 2 kittens so bad for ever since I spent a summer in France I fell in love with the breed . Turned out that it was the most popular breed there for everyone that I met that had a cat had a Birman.

Finding a show quality Birman is hard in itself, finding two at the same time would be pretty rare indeed. Few are available because the breeder will most likely keep them themselves.

Birmans are no. 2 on the most popular breed cat in France (no. 1 is Maine Coon) according to LOOF...That's why we are driving 2hrs from Zurich, CH to get our pedigree boys as papa is the champion many times with LOOF

Hi, he is about 100cm long (excluding his tail) and 45cm tall at the top of his head. I got him from an auction, but they are still available both new and used on Ebay in various sizes.

Persians are calmer than Birmans, but Birmans cope better in a busier household, especially one with younger kids. Persians are also a lot more work to keep their fur in good condition. I think the Persian has a nicer character though.

Needle Needs are now saying the lead time is 20 weeks for orders. The Millennium Frame is available from 10" through to 36" Scroll Bars, and there are 3 different sizes of stretcher bars. So I think the Millennium wins on variety of sizes.

As the Quantum has 11 sizes of scroll bars ranging from about 6" to 42" and 6 sizes of stretches bars, it beats the Millennium hands down for sizing variety. Ominak Factory are giving a lead time of 4 weeks presently.

Now Millennium frame has 9 sizes from 8"-36" and 5 sizes of strecher bars ; the shipping time also more reasonable, I knew 3 cases receiving their orders in 4 weeks, but the prices have gone higher.

I usually iron a fold along the top and bottom edge of the fabric as it makes it easier to slide the rods passed the fabric when you are fitting it for the first time. I usually Micropore tape along the top and bottom edge of the fabric as well as this helps prevent fraying as well as helps with grip. I find all of these types of frames a bit fiddly to get set up but they are a dream to sew on. with 😊

I used Eye Envy on this occasion, however there are a number of different brands for cat eye care and availability may depend on the country you live in. What works for one cat won't necessarily work for another, hence why I say in this video that you should try a few different ones to see which works best for your particular cats.

Little and often is key. The skin on the hind legs, rump and tummy areas is incredible sensitive so any pulling of the coat is likely to cause pain and an often vigorous reaction from the cat. If the hair is badly matted it is probably better to get it shaved off by either a vet or groomer experienced with cats, and start from scratch.

Also a Persian servant. I never get why people put makeup on their cat. The cat doesn't care and probably wont like it anyway. Same with groomers who clean and clip pets, the spray them with perfume. Our pets probably feel dirty after that.

Depends what you mean by 'makeup'. If you mean coat dyes then animals probably don't really care either way as they aren't self aware;; although I personally wouldn't dye the fur of my cats or dog. Eye powder however helps prevent tear scald and bacterial growth that can lead to skin and eye infections, so is therefore a welfare tool. I'd rather see a clipped pet than a matted one. However I agree that perfume doesn't belong on a pet.
