Real talk it wasn’t until I was an adult that I realized that DDP’s taped ribs weren’t just a fashion choice. I was a big samurai anime fan and a lot of those guys had taped ribs or arms or whatever so I thought DDP was going for that look because they were synonymous with WCW DDP in my mind.

I quit watching wrestling a long time ago. It's a testament that you have a show that can make me care. I don't actually care though. I'm not trying to be flashy I have no channels. It just sucks all around

Here's 2 from at least my personal perspective has changed on in recent years. Growing up, The Undertaker was my favourite wrestler and I think a lot of that came down to the mystique around the character. I still say that the character of The Undertaker is incredible and magical. Mark Calaway however, I have mixed feelings about. The more that I learn about the man behind the gimmick, the less respect I have for him as a person. He's a right wing nut job who loves killing animals, donates to Trump, wears "Blue Lives Matter" t-shirts and is possibly homophobic (although he has denied this, Goldust certainly knew how to make Taker uncomfortable). If we'd been at school together, he probably would have been one of the kids bullying the likes of me. Maybe he was cooler before he became a born again christian, it seems to have had the opposite effect that it's had on HBK in that it pushed HBK to try to be a better person whereas it seems to have pushed Mark Calaway to become a worse person. On the other side of the coin though, there's Jim Cornette. He was the goofy asshole manager that it was fun to see get beaten up. Smart fans knew the truth but I wouldn't become one of them for a few years yet. It was only when I stumbled upon one of his shoot interviews that I realized that this guy is actually pretty cool, seems like a decent human being and his wrestling knowledge is second to none. I don't think that I was the only one who just saw him as an entertaining asshole who you looked forward to seeing getting beaten up, but that was by design. That was an example of how great he is, that he was able to make people hate him like that. Now that he has a successful podcast, people look at him in a different way. Unlike the people on this list, he hasn't actually changed that much. He's gotten healthier, but he's essentially the same guy he always was behind the scenes, only now we get to see that side and he's just as entertaining.
