When I got the area map I managed to get everything that was grey on the normal map for this level except like 3 places where I couldn’t reach outside. But it still said I got 100% Secrets. I wish each level had an area map hidden so then it would kind of be like a metroidvania style game with trying to figure out all the missing parts you missed on the map

A lot of modern custom levels hide the area map in one secret so that it's reasonable to find all the secrets by yourself without guessing. I like that design.

When you run the engine from the command line you can put -nomonsters at the end to disable monsters. If you don't like the command line you could do the same with a windows shortcut

It's a launcher script I wrote myself. You can find the code here: github.com/Phytolizer/doom-cli It's mostly for my own use, but you could try to compile it yourself if you're savvy.

It's an SC-55 soundfont. Couldn't tell you which exact one, but the top Google result is probably it.

Yes, it's modded. I think the most apparent mods are Hellscape Navigator (compass, explored %) and Target Spy (barrels being highlighted).

Man, this wad is a bit rough around the edges :) The very first map is broken because there is a special line in front of the switch for the lift, making it impossible to press while recording a demo. I'll work around it though!

how can you find those secrets while playing ??? i mean, the jump over the fences using the lifter is findable, but... the secret doors... HOW ??? thanks for your video so helpful

It's a bit of a challenge yeah. In this case, there are 2 hints for the secret door: 1. The texture is different from the walls next to the secret one (darker green vs green/silver). This is a common trope in Doom mapping and you eventually get an eye for it. 2. There is a computer area map in this level. If you look at it closely you can see the walls of the secret tunnel leading outside marked on the map. Seeing the items outside plus that hint is enough to make most players suspicious of the secret wall. There are not always good hints for these walls, since many of the maps for Doom were made in a hurry. That's part of why I made these videos!
