"different than the god we see on the bible" cuts to God killing hundreds of inocent people any time he feels like It. It's not because this authors were "anti-religion", It's just that they wanted to make a criticism against abuse of power, and the god of the bible (at least in some of the books) just happens to be the perfect picture of It.

Loved the parallels with star wars! 😁 this one have been on my list for some time, Paradise Lost was a great read and I find the thematic connections between the two fascinating

I thoroughly enjoyed this tour of your library! I am incrementally building my personal library with the intention of adding more depth to the literature (monographs, novels, etc.) that I already own. In high school, two of the fictional works we had to read for IB English were: Madame Bovary and Tartuffe. I didn't enjoy either one, with a slight hatred towards the former lol. However, I did really enjoy Candide. When you described The Man Who Laughs and the connection with The Joker, I got so excited! Maybe I will give French literature another chance after all 😂.

The "Brian Kilmeade" books don't fit in with the others.

You probably wont see this but I currently have Letters from a Stoic by Seneca on my list of future books. Is it a worthwhile read? Stoic philosophy is new to me but for now I have begun with The Enchiridion by Epictetus as well as Meditations by Marcus Aurelius which also is favored by many. I took a Philosophy course in College so I do have a bit of background on the subject in general. Anyway thanks for providing me some inspiration for my future small library.

You really should read "Cloud Atlas" -- it's one of the most extraordinary novels I've ever read, and I believe you'd find it fascinating. It's really unlike anything else. (But don't see the movie, which utterly fails to capture the beauty of the book.)

i don't know, in both the critias and the bible, they spoke of a god flooding the earth, because of the evils of man. also, the tree of knowledge of good and evil, sounds like a tree bearing awareness, which seems like it would be more power to the humans, even if it came at the cost of life. it is hard for me to say at this point. i will say that if Zeus and Poseidon are around 12,000 bp due to the story of atlantis, then this would be a point in time when humans were still stone age. also, this is a time when the persian gulf was fertile land. i can imagine it would have been a great place for a garden. this is only my assumption though.

It would be similar to me creating ants and then making myself an ant for the other ants to kill me so I don’t kill all of the ants. Of course, I would kill most of the ants anyway because they wouldn’t acknowledge that I was the ant-maker and didn’t love me unconditionally… on condition of eternal torment. (The little piss-ants.)
