Run some Berryman in the oil then let the engine IDLE for 15-30min then drop the oil. should free up a lot of the sludge. Also you might try blasting brake cleaner into the pan after you drop it.

On vehicles that old you can take the ignition switch to a locksmith and they should be able to make a new key for relatively little money. There are some locksmiths that specialize in automotive locksmithing but they’re not as easy to find and probably not necessary for a vehicle this old.

After 57 years that driver's door still shuts like brand new. And while the 1967 F-100.s are really cool. I like mine a bunch it's got the same drivetrain as yours, the part that I don't care for some parts are not reproduced.

Not easy to drop the pan with the big crossmember under the engine. main goal here was just to hear the engine run before I moved forward.

I remember the old Southwestern Bell trucks from when I was a Kid. The logo on the riders door was a Bell I would have decals made to replace before I clear coated it. That is a super cool truck and thanks for saving it and bringing it back to life.

FYI, my flashers were even slower , once i replaced the fuse. LIKE MINE, IM betting yours is so rusted it barely works and will blow a fuse or quit. it was 2 multi boxes of fuses[2x$8] to find right size and one $10cdn flasher and it was all fixed!

after seeing that sludge barely come out, unless i got this truck REALLY CHEAP, like under $1000 iw ouldve dropped the pan or pulled the engine to at least clean it. BARRING THAT, i wouldve poured a gallon of diesel thru the engine while changing ing the oild and tried =shaking it around even with plug closed and a few buddies on both sides, cuz like u say thats alot of thick sludge that was GREY to start with

I did try to flush what I could put of there off camera. But remember this was just to see if the engine was even any good. For all I knew it could of had a spun bearing, Broken valve or valve spring, collapsed lifter etc etc. this was the bare minimum to hear the thing run. Pulling the engine out to clean the pan only to put it back and find those problems would have been very discouraging. Now that I’ve heard it run and didn’t find any major issues the whole truck is getting some more love!

Sweet to run into a bump side channel. Grew up in my dad's crew cab "frankentruck". It's a 71 cab on a 93 f350 chassis with a long bed. 12v Cummins and a Allison 6 speed manual transmission. It's a beater with all sorts of mismatched colors, dents and rust. But an awesome smooth running beast of a truck. I've got a yellow 69 f100 ranger called crazy canary with a 360 V8 3 on the tree with a f250 rear end in it giving it a massive rake.

I'm curious to see what you find with your EFI. I put the same system on my 78 Bronco with a 460 for the perceived added reliability, just with an EFI fuel pump on the frame rail. I started running into the same issue on a really hot day up in the mountains at first. Now it does it randomly, sometimes just on startup. I'm thinking maybe fuel pump issues. Like you, I'm frustrated given the cost of the system.

On the thought of adding a carb, there’s another channel on here that is Thunderhead289, and he’s figured out what he calls the Carb-cheater, and it’s basically a carb spacer that regulates the air fuel ratio and keeps it running perfectly. Also has a kill switch function. Pretty neat concept that I would definitely look into if I were you.

I like the way that box bed looks on the Bell Systems truck. I think it could stand to drop quite a bit lower, maybe not quite as deep as even with the bottom of the rear window, but at least low enough to see out the rear window. I think it could look really nice with very little work. Just needs to find the right new owner.

Glad you found a Bell box for it and give a rip about its history. My $.02 is to get it functional then move it on to someone else. Have you run a Marti Report on it yet? Also, the paint mix for pre-1970 Bell System Green is hardly an ancient secret.

I used a a light coat of home depot citrus paint remover to remove just the top coat of ugly paint on my old power wagon, I watched it after i sprayed it on and didn't let it burn into the lower layer i wanted to save. it worked great.
