Ivan that was a very good video because not only did you catch Engine 78 when the receive the Alarm at the station but you were lucky enough to arrive on the scene as they were arriving on the scene. One of the first things that I had noticed was that the 2nd due Truck arrived well before the first due Truck and the 2nd due Engine. I know that you and perhaps others might be curious as to why that was. Here is the most likely reason or reasons why. 1 Sometime the amount of traffic on their routes does slow things down however 2. Tower Ladder 21 and Engine 112 used Addison street to get to the fire while they should have used Irving Park road which was only a block and half north of the fire. by using Addison street to get there they actually increased their running distance to the still alarm as the address of the still alarm is actually closer to Irving Park then to Addison street. Irving Park road is also a wider and a generally speaking a faster moving street than Addison is . From their location at 3801 N Damen they should have turn north and gone to Irving Park Road then go south to Addison as not only would their Travel Distance been somewhat shorter but the Traffic on Irving Park would have probably been faster moving as it is wider street than Addison is. All Truck 22 needed to do was to Travel 3 blocks west on Wilson avenue to Clark street and then taken Clark street approximately a half mile south to South Port and then take South Port another 4 blocks South to the scene of the fire. I am a long time Chicago Fire Department Fan and I was around when Engine 55 current station was still new , in fact I still remember the make and year of Engine 55 and Truck 44 in 1966 when the Station just opened. When Engine 55 and Truck 44 opened in 1966 Snorkel 7 was also located there. Snorkel 7 had previously been located at Engine 112's "Old House" at Byron and Hermitage. When Engine 55 and Truck 44 opened the Battalion Chief for the area was the Old 13th Battalion and they were located with Truck 21 at 1501 W School street in a Small Truck only house. Engine 55 and Truck 44 were previously located about 2 blocks west of the current Station and they were on the West Side of Sheffield about a Half a Block south of Diversey.

Chicago Fire 🔥 is a great department and has good looking apparatus , they have my top 3 favorite brands of trucks, Seagraves,Pierce and E one and would definitely join that department.. thanks for posting this video… Tony J. from Indianapolis IN. 🙌🏼👍👏🏼🔥🚨🚒📸
@dbyers38972 күн бұрын
Doesn't matter if the trucks look good. Each manufacturer has its pros & cons. Seagrave & Pierce Mfg are known to be the most costly. But large agencies can purchase entire fleets thereby lowering the cost per unit. An example being Kansas City, MO. They replaced their entire fleet about five years ago with all new Pierce. Chicago, Buffalo, Seattle, & Boston have been using E-One for many years & seem to be fairly satisfied. Seattle recently purchased quite a few from Pierce. Others prefer KME, such as Los Angeles County. What works for Chicago may not be suitable for another jurisdiction. NYC & DC prefer Seagrave. Their rigs work hard every day. Philly prefers Spartan. My hometown prefers Sutphen. They've held up well in the harsh climate & been dependable. Rosenbauer is an up & coming maker which builds some great looking apparatus but time will tell if it can carve a large & loyal market in NA. They are an Austrian company. My first choice is Seagrave. Old-fashioned but solid & nearly indestructible, if you can afford them.

Where was the fire and did they just need one line on it? Do you have any idea if there was anything burning at 800 block of Fletcher?
@Bfee7214 күн бұрын
Fire was on the second floor in the rear. Oven fire got out of control. E78 and E55 each lead out one line, I believe. I believe there was something burning on Fletcher, but I believe it was put out relatively quickly. 👍🏾🤙🏾
