I bought a Thunder fairly recently and I would feel comfortable saying it is the best vacuum ever made and I have used hundreds of machines. They clean well, are built well, and are very serviceable. I really need to get more of these.

Do you know anyone who can assist me with something? I just acquired a 1996 Fantom Thunder that I am intending to do a 100% perfect restoration on and that includes getting into the motor and clean out all of the hair and dust inside the motor and it’s housing. The last thing I want is excessive dust buildup which could eventually result in the motor burning out. If you know any resources that would be helpful.

That's a very nice condition 10 Amp Fantom Fury! I've been on the hunt for these in a while! Rare to find one of these pop up with a good motor in comparison to the 12 Amp ones that have a good motor. That loud noise is likely coming from the fans as they have been caked in dust, and will need to be washed and cleaned out with a pipe cleaner. I've serviced a 12 Amp Fantom Fury motor that was loud in a Fantom Fury LE and I got it to run smooth again.

This is my favorite version of the Fantom Fury! The dark green with teal accents looks a lot better than the newer ones being almost all black IMO. Too bad the motors in these weren't as durable as in the 12 amp versions. I have one in mint condition with everything but the motor bearings I can tell are on their way out. I wonder what causes these 10 amp motors to fail more often.

You're right, we do have the same exact model units. I was actually kinda surprised how powerful the suction unit of mine was. I had owned a black Express many years ago and it wasn't powerful enough for my needs. This red one does well. Great video.

These are easily my favorite Fantom vacuums or just vacuums of all time. I still love the other Fantom models, but nothing came close to the Thunder, and I love the way the two in the video look, the colors look so awesome.

Love the foot button on the power nozzle….so much more convenient when you don’t have the fancier gas-pump hose handle with the power nozzle on off button at your fingertips. I bought a mid-level World Vac canister and the only way you could shut off the power nozzle was by unplugging the cord at the handle! This earlier Express design is so much better!

Sounds like it could use some work on the bearings. They sound a bit dry.

I thought 💭 this Hoover vacuum cleaner looked like something from the early 1980's.

I wonder if the difference in motor sounds, has to with it being rebuilt? Maybe Eureka had to do something to the motor, or it was replaced altogether?
