I still remember my first game in Down the Anduin I was about to blow past the quest card number pulled The Necromancer's Reach and it killed virtually my entire board because the sniper came out early and had been peppering my units. I went from overkilling the quest to increasing my threat by a good amount. Between that and Dol Guldur it almost put me off the game entirely

Great video man, thanks for the helpful insight! I subscribed hoping for more LOTR The Card Game content in the future. I'm just getting into the game after adoring Arkham Horror and bouncing off of Marvel Champions. This game is the perfect balance of those two for solo play and I'm loving it so far. Anyways, I can tell you put a lot of effort into the editing and I appreciate it. Likely the cheering sound effects are too loud, you can look into just turning them down in the future, or if you have the capability in your software, lightly sidechain compressing those sounds with your voice, so they get turned down when you're speaking.

Another Scapetuber, nice! This just got recommended to me, nice list. It’s funny that I disagree with every other KZfaqrs’ tier lists, but it’s great to get different perspectives and get more exposure for the game

The reason the Nagrubs aren't classified as Marro because you could combo them with the hive and a Hivelord, for 3 activations possibly including cloning grubs for infinite health hack for Hivelord. MY favorite Hivelord is Su-Bak-Na and I WISH I could activate him and the grubs with the hive.

That’s interesting, it would definitely be a bit overpowered although it might not be the most unbalanced HS unit combo (if it were real). It would also explain how we have no Marro squads with bonding at the moment.

Sonlen at S and Q10 at C is a pretty wild take. Q10 is the stronger figure. Q10 is better vs most Heroes and Squads. Q10 has more attacks, special attacks, superior range, and more immunities (size, class). Sonlen does have an auto wound potential, but even then against most figures 2 X4 or 4x2 is better than 1x4 + 1 Unreliable D20 roll

Q10 was the closest to going up a Tier on the whole list. Here’s what it comes down to for me: Q10 has a bunch of “OR” options while Sonlen has “AND” options. Everything you get for Sonlen’s points you can use every turn. Meanwhile every turn for Q10 you have to leave two options, for which you paid his points cost, in the bag. (I do realize attacks with multiple shots are also “and”, but they don’t offer the same variety of tools.) Q10’s normal attack is what almost gets him up to B tier for me. Also I don’t have the math handy but unless your target has very low defense, attacks of 2 are very ineffective.

Always love hearing about tier lists of this game. I wish the rest of the game was cheaper since the rise of the internet everyone knows heroscape stuff is valuable lol.... and there are flippers raising the prices etc. But I have starting looking to 3d printing units and I think that is the most affordable way, that or buying the 3d prints and painting ourselves. I did buy the new renegade set and will support them tho. I hope they continue to make units lol

Yeah personally I never got into C3V or any of the other fan-made content, but was lucky enough to get into the game when it was realistic to get everything. I am unreasonably excited for the new official units

Great video! I just got this set recently in a massive lot that I found on Facebook marketplace, and absolutely love the units. As for the term Marrden as opposed to Marro (if I may nerd out a bit), it's because the wildlife on the planet Marr are called Marrden, whereas the human equivalents are called Marro. I suspect that all wildlife from the swamps of Marr have fleshless bodies due to the atmosphere, much like how humans and dogs both share skin, hair, and teeth, despite not being from the same species. Tor-Kul-Na is the name of the guy on the giant, but he's mentally bonded to it, and so has control of it's movements. 🤓

By the way the marro warriors have four figures and they are s tier however when you consider Delta points that most tournaments use they are more like c tier in that case but that's because Delta points purposely balances figures

Cool to see what you think but deathwalker sucks cuz anytime you get him once he's in a fight for a turn or 2 he dies lol, when you are using more than this vid and have multiples of squads he just isn't worth it

In my experience that all depends on how much attention is being paid to DW. I’ve also seen matches where he lasts way longer than he should because with that many defense dice sometimes you get lucky. I could see how if you focus primarily on tournament formats he’s lower than where I have him.

@@JacksonWarfieldsGameRoom well i usually play the same way a tournament is played but even with uniques only he's more of a lower tier pick because as soon as he's engaged, if you have 3 or 4 figures attacking with even just 3 attack one or two of them will roll 2 or 3 skills and when rolling 3 or 4 times for defense you are bound to roll 1 or 2 shields at least once in average then if he did attack back most people won't set you up for the explosive attack so he only attacks 1 figure with a fairly good ranged attack then he proceeds to be attacked 3 or 4 * and if they are not attacking him it's because you have better figures in your army to kill so if he survives longer it doesn't make him good in that way that's like saying kyntella gwyn is good because she's sitting in the back doing nothing and she lasted till the end

Always good to see another Heroscape video come out(impressive background btw) and unit ranking is always an interesting topic. I largely agreed with your rankings, especially Krav and Rae, and the ones that didn't line up, make more sense in light of your comment about mostly doing large 3v3 games. So an AoE unit like DW9k is potentially more effective and the AE have more chances to drop. I was impressed with your analysis of the AE, as a lot of players think the best thing is to run up and use the grenades, when keeping at 8 range is often (though not exclusively) better. Most rankings out there consider units in light of tournament style games, so 1v1, 400-500 pts, which makes the AE more risky, as there's a good chance they won't drop. The biggest disagreement is probably the Marro Warriors. When played right, they are one of the best units in the game. Did you mention if you took non-RotV units into consideration? As the bonding options definitely change the value of many of these units.

Thanks for the background props! And yeah you nailed it for DW9K, in 3v3 he gets more chances to shoot into crowds. Sometimes the starting zones look like parking lots. My rankings are pretty much within a full pool of official units, primarily pre-D&D waves. After the comments I’ve gotten here and on Reddit I’m going to lay those qualifiers out at the beginning of the next HS tier video I do, for sure.

Knowing that, Grimnak maybe should be higher, as the Heavies/Grimnak army is one of the best in the game. And yeah, what units you consider and what type of games you play largely impact how good a unit is. For instance, Taelord isn't good at 500 points, but is immensely better in a 1000 point game.

Agent Carr is more like Morpheus from the Matrix than Will Smith from M.I.B. 😄 So - do you have most or all of the Heroscape collection? I had all of classic 'scape until I sold it all. Now I am rebuilding my collection and I would say that so far, I've got around 10% of everything there is.

Haha you might have a point with Morpheus! I have at least one of all the official ‘scape units, and at least 3x of every common squad up until the D&D waves (I have 1 of each of those). Between the units and the terrain it fills up two 90-gallon bins (using hardware organizers in there, not just loose in the bins.)

Yeah, the VC scene is a bit tough to break into, and I never got into them myself either, but they did help keep the game going. More and more tournaments are allowing VC units though, so it's not a bad idea to be familiar with some of the more popular ones anyway. @@JacksonWarfieldsGameRoom

Interesting ranking! 1. Airborne Elite is clearly A tier imo--> a first-round Drop is crazy, as they are valient, they work great with 4th Mass, ridiculous when bombing a packed start zone in deathmatch and also very useful for gaining early control of domination points or fulfilling scenario objectives ;D 2. Marro Warriors are also A tier--> They are a group of 4 that outperforms their point value almost in any game. I agree Marro are the typical Heroscape poster boy units; very thematic! Can you tier-rank Swarm of the Marro Master Set Figures next? That would be epic!

1. Good points on the Airborne and Marro Warriors! One thing I didn't mention in the video is I'm probably biased towards units that perform well in 3v3 team battles (usually 3 armies of 500 on each side) since that's the format I've played the most. 2.
