I thought of doing this but unfortunately the elementswill deteriorate the foam. Great in theory but not in reality. Now what you could do is is cover the foam ball in cement , naking a cement coating and as well add gems while cement is still moist. :)

Im a wool fabric and wool roving hoarder. That sounds funny just writing it. One very helpful thing for me right now is an" I don't know pile.". That will soon get whittled away but I find it very necessary in my process.

Great tips! I’m a full time crafter and painter. I just had a baby and moved to a smaller home. Our old home had a garage and painters loft with plenty of storage. Our new house has no storage. I’m trying to downsize my craft supplies without totally liquidating everything. I feel like life with an infant has changed so much and I literally have no room for creativity. Great video, Jennifer! I hit a wall of indecision about what I ‘needed’ to keep. Although I have lots of great supplies (including pretty fabrics), I don’t feel inspired to make anything. I’ve been trying to find better ways to store everything instead of making anything. I’m overwhelmed with started and ‘maybe someday’ projects. Some quilt projects were started by my Grandma. She passed in the early 50s. I love the idea of honoring her by finishing only those things that can be useful as well as pretty. I’m putting ‘kits’ together including everything needed to finish them. I’m 77. My ‘soon’ is what I can realistically finish by the end of 2024 - 10 months. A couple of local thrift stores support causes that will benefit from things I don’t REALLY need. Yes, it is hard to do and I’m procrastinating a lot. I’m still doing it - baby steps are still moving forward. Thank you so much for helping me make some tough decisions.

OMG, I have the Martha Stewart glitter set, too! I really like your concept and I intend to follow it. One of my hobbies involves Rubber Stamping which is an exception to the your rule. I can definitely use your concept for paper, markers, embellishments, etc, but my collection of stamps are critical for design. What I need to discern is the amount of consumables that I could never use in my lifetime.

I'm really glad I found this video. It's exactly what I needed. I am a craft hoarder & I'm at the point in my life (I'm 61) where I'm seriuosly thinking of getting rid of almost all of my craft supplies. I would like to reclaim the spare bedroom that was made into my craft room about 10 years ago when my son moved out.

This is amazing! Loving it.

I had to move out of my apartment & rent a room from my sister because I put myself into so much debt buying all the stuff. I donated more than half & put the rest into storage thinking my situation would only be for a few months. 6 months & still here. I had brought with me a few crafty things that I thought was enough to make projects but was always needing something. So off to storage I went in search of the things I needed. Became very overwhelmed with what I still had wanting to get rid of it all. Currently preparing for a craft fair & my room is cluttered with stuff & I feel I need to buy what I probably have in storage because I don’t want to deal with it - moving all the boxes trying to find things. And yes, I want the new releases, do i create with what I buy from them ? No! It just gets piled up. I’ll use the tip of buying things when I need it. But I do feel badly that the small companies go out of business & I can’t get it. Is it my responsibility if that happens? No! But regret of not getting it when I could’ve happens. I’m a card maker so there so many things I’ve hoarded over the years. I have donated a ton and need to donate more and stop buying all the things. Things that I’ve said I need when I retire & have time then to use. At this rate I’ll never retire because I’ve got to pay for said things. A crafters life is so complicated!

Okay I’m in Australia, so the amount of $ you might use to buy something is probably triple $$$ that once we get it here. This means that I really think about what I need. Now I don’t make cards or scrapbooks, but stuff loosing its usefulness I definitely understand especially when our summers can get to 45C, weather and biological stuff bugs/ mould impacts threads/fibres/yarn/canvas too. I Konmaried my craft space back in 2016; no I didn’t get rid of everything but that process helped me consider exactly what I loved wanted to continue doing and I moved on (with thanks) all my acrylic yarn to charity knitters, fabric pieces that were too small/dirty/faded/damaged, the damaged mannequin went in the bin, and 3 metres of craft magazines and books went to the library/opportunity stops for someone else to find joy. I even moved on 'frustration' the name I gave to my overlocker (serger). And when I moved interstate last year I sent two non worn out sewing machines to the scrapyard - I’ll be replacing these domestic machines that were overworked making masks with industrial ones once I find ones at the right price point. So, I still have a lot of stuff, but I’m definitely much more choosy about what comes into the house. I’ve got a project list and if the item isn’t for one of those on-going projects it doesn’t get bought. I do put things into online store carts, but at that point I’ll leave the site keeping the tab open do something else for a few hours to a day and give myself time to think if: 1. I really will use it, 2. It is worth the $$$ (yes even on sale), 3. It can be used in one or more projects (multiple projects is better) and finally, 4. It will last. Many times, not one thing remains in the carts after the consideration time. It’s definitely better on my wallet doing it this way. And if after the consideration time the sale item is gone, my thought then is there’ll be something better along shortly. I still have according to most people a craft STABLE - STash Acquired Beyond Life Expectancy but what remains brings me Peace, Joy and Hope that I’ll finish my projects, plus I’ve got a teenager who is into art/craft now too. They’ve been told that they can use anything I’ve bought just show me want they want it for because I might have something better/more appropriate for their needs because there’s stuff around that they haven’t seen before (usually it’s a tool that’s more suitable) and once I’m out of the picture to who to contact, to take whatever they don’t want off their hands!

Great video! I am way better than I used to be. I stopped watching when all the new products come out and feeling like I needed everything. I haven’t bought anything really in the last few years. I gifted my friend who works with seniors a huge amount of my craft things. I still have a lot to go through, but it’s a process. A lot got looked through when we’ve moved, but still could be down sized. Work in process.
