I remember when Cloughie signed Trevor Francis, the first million pound player. Cloughie, Peter Taylor and Francis getting interviewed on tv. The reporter asked Francis when he would play his first game for Forest. Quick as a flash, Cloughie immediately says, “When i pick 'im!

I love football.I was no good at it myself. I wasn’t competitive enough. But I did know and understand football. But now? The tactics really escape me. It is so complicated! The pundits on TV say, oh the back four this, the front three that. The midfield is conceding the play. They need to move up etc! Modern tactics are lost on me. When the Camera pans out,or when I’m looking from the stands,I see 11 players on each side, trying to score a goal. In Englands case with not much success. Can you imagine George best playing to a system? Can you imagine Pele, Maradona,Ronaldinho, and many more world class players being contained in these modern systems? For Gods sake let the players get out there and play. The player who I think would have gone on to have been “Absolutely the greatest, and I mean the greatest player of all time” Duncan Edwards! I saw this guy play, and he was the “Greatest“ bar none even then. And he was 21 when he died. Would he have been able to play to a complicated system? He could have yes! But there is no way any Manager of the time would have confined him to a system.

Mark was a great Goalkeeper! He’s a great impersonator of Brian Clough. In fact the best. And now a great speaker. I just love his footballing stories. Brilliant! And Cloughie literally was the greatest England Manager we never had. An absolute travesty for England fans. We were absolutely robbed by the FA. Why? Because they couldn’t cope with his personality. He was bigger than those men at the FA. With him as England Manager,I’m convinced we could have won another World Cup. He could bring out the best in players that were not world class. His results prove it.

Roy Keane was a world class football player. It was his immense ability as a footballer, but also his character that set him apart from the other players. Unfortunately it’s his character that is preventing him from becoming an great manager in my opinion

Brian clough was old school manager, if he did not control you, you would not be in his team. He only brought players he had control over, and he understood things most have no idea about What an old school manager was Just hear what he did to stuart pearce Proper old school manager, and he got the best out of those players, and they respected that he was the manager His teams never ambushed the referees like man utd under fergie started. Back then your captain could only speak to the ref, and clough wanted all his players to respect the referee You have nothing like him anymore in football What alex fergusons teams used to do with refs was disgusting, alex fergusons man utd changed that players used to respect the ref, and your captain back then was only player who could speak to the referee Brain clough made sure players who played for him respected the referee, or they would not be playing for his team Proper old school manager, he totally controlled the club, but did not do it like alex fergusons, who used bullies, and rapists as man utd players. Brian clough was the boss, and they did what he wanted, and he got those players respect as he understood them so well. If you were a player he could not control, you were out of his team, you either did what he wanted as manager, or you were out, and all the players understood this. Thats what old school managers were like Todays footballers are champagne charlies Just look at the lack of respect for referees players have today, and have done since alex ferguson took over at man utd and changed football Before fergies man utd started winning, only the team captain could speak to the referee Imagine that today, with all the big headed players? No chance, they all think they are maradona. My dad was a forest fan in those years, and first game i ever went to was at qpr in shepards bush in london, to see nottingham forest play qpr back in early 1980s when i was a kid. Brian clough did not win two european cups with a small team like nottingham forest because he did not know what he was doing. It was some achievement to win back to back european cups(todays champions league) with a small club like nottingham forest Thats why he never got the england job, he would of taken over the fa, and the bureaucrats in the fa knew it.
