Hi Dr, if you have the time to reply, may I ask you when is the decision made to go all wire vs half pin for deformity correction? I had a poorly made tibia varus surgery with 2 half pins in place. Now I need to have another surgery done and I'm worried that drilling 2 pins again close to the surgery site might lead to fragility in my tibia. My fmri clearly shows some hollowness in my past halfpin sites... I know I have to discuss this with my surgeon but there is barely anybody here in Argentina that I knows does this well and I'd really like to have a second opinion since I don't want this surgery to go poorly again. Even if I had to pay a virtual consultation with you , I'd be open to considering it as long as I don't end up having a surgery that I'll regret having a few years down the line. but mechanical axis after correction is lateral to the base of the lateral tibial spine (more that 62.5 percent from medial aspect) @2:30 @5:32. in any case, maybe 55 percent (tip of the lateral tibial spine) would be a better target to keep the angle of correction smaller.
