51:20 Ironic that "Windmill Hill" is now far too common, meaning landscapes full of giant, spinning eyesores supposedly saving the planet. They also ruin night skies and ambience with their red lights.

I'm a history buff. I always ooo and awe about what was done by the people using a certain artifact. Mr. Harding, a man who finds artifacts, has the same awe and questions I have. He's a wonderful person. I think his bubbling personality and sharp sense of humor are probably to thank for that. Every chance I get, I love watching Time Team and Tony, Mitch, Phil, and all the team members.

I think having a pint with Phil would be a phenomenal experience. Not only does does he seem like a genuinely good person, but the stories and knowledge he has in his head could keep you listening for days.

I am struck how the Amesbury Archer, who obviously was cherished in his community, has had his humanity removed in the exhibition and turned into a collection of bones. I wish there was a way to show reverence for his personhood ❤

A lot of those flakes you knocked off appear to be useable as slicers or scrapers. I know how sharp flint can be, my grandmother had a large piece of flint for starting fires in our backyard fireplace. She had it most of her life. Growing up, she cooked over a wood-fired stove until she married my grandfather. She started the fires by hitting the flint with her Iron meat cleaver.. Sparks flew, and so did flakes of flint. We had to be careful picking up the flint flakes, sharp as glass!

Great meet up and i dont want to pour rain on their parade but why do we think the archer "SLOWLY" walked his way across Europe? A friend of mine could walk 40 miles in a day easily! so the archer could have walked from the alps and back every year if he wanted to. Some of the theories that trip of their lips are laughable. He was "royalty"? please give me strength. Where was the crown?

My dad was at this camp. He was arrested in the town by the local plod for being drunk and disorderly and spent the night in the cells.Dont know too much else, other than he liked a drink.found some rotting potatoes at the camp and asked at the cookhouse for some yeast, months later, a passable alcoholic was had by all, so he must have been there some time.

I was impressed when Phil actually made the hand axe, but when he put it all back together, then revealed the hand axe from the shards, it was amazing. What a brilliant field archaeologist and flint knapper he is.

For me, the most amazing part of these monuments is the fact that the people involved in the planning, designing and building had no written language. No one seems to talk about that. But just imagine how difficult it would be, to come up with a complex and complicated plan without being able to write it down and give to the workforce.

I am ayear late to this. I would listen to Phil talk about his passion for archaeology any day.
Thank you for putting new life in my sleeping brain. I am 83 and since my wife died some six years ago have been trying to get involved in subjects of interest. Time Team the latest for me not seeing it when broadcast first. Sciences engineering history , model aviation belonging to two clubs for this when time and energy allows between house work, DIY etc. Architecture was my living until retirement.

I spent most of my childhood in Upavon and we often used to ride our horses up on to the 'plain' and what a beautiful place it is and how you can feel the age of it especially at dusk. There are numerous long and short barrow's all around that area. Does anyone know if any part of the 'Avenue' Avebury has been excavated? Thank you for all you do and bringing it to watch on your channel. PS love to see our Phil ❤ on the program.

I'm in my sixties now & it drives me mad to think that between school & the church we were so indoctrinated, meanwhile outside were heaps of history, our history ignored & down played. I lived in a village in north Hampshire (Wessex) THE Chatholic church sat on Tower hill that its estimated to have had one thousand Sarsen stones. The stones are now scattered around the area 10 sq miles. That hill had a pre Catholic religious history obliterated, just disgusting.
