If I bought a fancy golf cart I would have to begin golfing. I prefer cars for transportation.

Essentially you ended up getting a different motor. That stuff happens to all of us. It is what it is.

Wow conductive on the case. Why would they do that? Seems like bad design to me.

Looks awesome. I am thinking of a similar setup for my 28 foot cabin cruiser. It's a steel hulled beast I bought from an old boy who built it in the early 90's. It currently has a 15hp 4 stroke powering it (big motor quit 10 years ago). I want to go fully electric, and use a foldable array like you have when it is moored in front of my house. Thanks for the video from Nelson BC. ps. my brother has a 72 karmann ghia, so nice to see one in your ad.

Thank you for watching and your comments. We drove our 1974 VW Karmann Ghia 97,000 miles in 7-1/2 years. No valve adjustments, oil changes, etc. Electric is the only way to go.

Perfect. One more question. I hear petrol cars make a lot of noise and you can’t be in a closed room with them because their exhaust fumes are toxic to humans and also smell bad. Is that true?

Fantastic sessions - thank you. We recently bought our first EV (2021 Mini SE) and as my wife has nixed my request to take it all apart to see how it works, this series will be the next best thing!

Mystery solved. Classic. You have a good relationship with the motor company.

Great to see the debug process and motor software in action. Over time those little pins moved and disrupted the revolution of the motor which is amazing. You wouldn’t have expected that I’m sure. Also interesting to me is the motor design choice to have the encoder on the outside of the motor. I guess it makes it super easy to replace.

I found the stats interesting. And I need to get one of those conversion cables. Every time I get to a fast charger the J1772 option isn’t working and only CCS is available.

I wasn’t aware of the brake activated regen. I use paddle shifters just under the steering wheel to get 5 modes of regen. It’s a wonderful thing to use regen for braking.

That spare tire well looks like such a crazy design decision from the original designers. Does removing the spare tire and that well mean your vehicle is not road worthy to pass a registration inspection?

Did they ever find out what happened to the batteries that went missing ? So true - you can 3D scan and then 3D CAD model everything but no substitute for real fit checking.

The only thing I think of when I think of emissions is what comes out the exhaust pipes, so if there are no other hazardous emissions then it is a zero emission vehicle, the dust from the brake pads is not really countable I don't think. The carbon footprint thing is a fraud created by British Petroleum, they have had some really disastrous oil spills and my guess is those are much worse for the environment that what comes out of the exhaust pipe. The only negative besides the price I see with EV's is needing all those batteries and that they don't offer unlimited range but the ICE vehicles don't offer unlimited range without needing to stop and refuel either but they do refuel faster. I would like to have an EV if I can build it myself and get unlimited range.
