The way I've learned it is around root position shell chord voicings and the extensions on top of that would love a video on expanding this to the inversions and their common use cases also the minmaj chord

This is so great Saul. Good for beginners...but as I go through it today, it occurs to me that I should work through this concept...and certainly for some of my "advanced" students who have gained a lot of theory knowledge, or have a lot of licks, or are now making their way through the chord changes should really focus on this concept as well. Thanks for another great video Saul.

Thanks Eric, means a lot coming from you! Great that a trumpet player and teacher like you finds it useful too. Often people seem to ignore a video if it doesn't have a picture of their instrument i the thumbnail, but the concepts and the skills are the key. You're right, this one is definitely for all levels.

Great video, thanks! Learning jazz language has taken me years to start thinking of notes in terms of scale and chord numbers and where they are on the fingerboard. I'm still working on it and this is a big help.

An excellent lesson, thank you, and great timing for me as im comping guitar in a quartet now. A lesson on how to play guitar with a pianist but bass or drums would be great!!

You're awesome sir! Perfect lesson. Could you please make a lesson how we may connect this lines with previous bars and to the next ones. How can we prepare our improv. to connect to ii v I licks?

This is so cool. It seems that you can play the 1 diminished chord (same as sharp 4 diminished) over the sharp 4 diminished chord to lead to the 1 chord in bar 6. Then you can play the flat 1 diminished chord in bar 10 over the 5 chord to return to one.

I am very happy to have found your channel, your exercises really help to understand and practice, also the connection between the previous lessons and this one help a lot. I like to have the feeling that the lessons are chained and structured with the intention of progressing by incorporating a new topic each time. What I find most difficult is to play in time and to know where I am going, it remains to invest time in it. Thank you very much Dr Saul, I am improving thanks to you.
