GREAT effects here - this was all done with models & miniatures and looks actuall better than any CGI could hope for. Dabney Coleman almost steals the show as the Navy captain - great performance!

The movie is mediocre, the book is far superior (it is called The Tower), actually the movie suffers from being two different movies under development by different studios that decided to merge the movies together into one screenplay and it made the resulting story disjointed

IF you're in a building and you suspect a fire is going on somewhere, touch the door handle of any closed door that you may wish to open, with the *back* of your hand. If it's hot, there's probably fire on the other side. Why use the back of your hand? If you do it the traditional way, your hand may actually close itself around the hot doorhandle, burning it and possibly making you become stuck to the doorhandle.

It's hard not to compare the Towering Inferno to the Twin Towers. We know they took a lot of liberty with the story in TI. Lots of pyrotechnics used in TI and it sheds light on a good possibility nukes were used in the Twin Towers.

McQueen was the only actor who acted in this film. Everyone else I felt just phoned it in. Throughly enjoyable though.

This is what annoys me about tv. They cut out bits which they think will.offend and when Steve says 'oh shit', they cut it out. Offend who? Its an every day word nowadays!!! Another film was Shirley Valentine where she says 'arent men full of shit'. They butcher these films and ruin them. Ps. Ive got this one on dvd

Thank you Dabney Coleman, and forever stand your guard - to our country and to the Glass Tower! I just realized he was in Towering inferno when googling the actor: 0:50 I never made the connection, despite seeing Towering Inferno, and later on 9 to 5, and War Games. Coleman always played it straight.
