Norway has always been a monarchy. However, we were under Danish reign from 1537 to 1814 and under Swedish reign from 1814 to 1905. When Norway became independent in 1905 the people of Norway elected the new king of Norway. So the "modern" monarchy is kind of a symbol for Norways independence. The king and the royal family are quite popular despite previous mentioned controversies. They are politically neutral and act as a gathering institution for Norwegians and the nation. So far working for the best for the country.

The water in oslofjorden is usually clean & safe but when heavy rain sets in, the authorities recommend people to not bathe in it for a few days until the sewage overleak gets cleaned. Its something they're trying to fix, but its complicated due to the ancient system within the berg stone under the city.

You were looking for ice cream and walked past at least 2 Narvesen kiosks that sell it on the corners of Studentlunden. Across the road from there, on Karl Johans gt, among the restaurants is also one. Østbanen was the main station before Oslo S was built

great video. as a local, i find oslo to be an ugly city with constant construction everywhere. København id say is way more packed with art and spectacular buildings. never saw it from a turist point of view before. you missed out on some cool stuff though..like Ziplining from Holmekollen (ski jump) - Viking Museum, Kon Tiki, and Nature History Museum. (and btw..only reason people looked funny at you in Mathallen is most likely because you filmed)

You were lucky that you didn't get mugged or even stabbed or shot by one of the many many thousands of illegal immigrants from MENAPT and criminal gangs that roam the streets, and wreak havoc daily in our once so safe and beautiful capitol.. As a consequence of this, Oslo has, during the last 4 decades or so, gradually turned into a shithole.

kzfaq.info/get/bejne/lap6ebyerd67iKs.html We have fairly warm water due to a branch of the "golf stream", a hot water stream that comes from Florida and happens to pass Norway. Without that the bathing temps would be cold. During winter obv, its mostly ice anyway.

I'm glad you enjoyed Oslo! The reason the water in the Oslo fjord is this warm, is because a couple miles south of oslo, there is a quite narrow and shallow pass in the fjord (you probably noticed the "Oscarsborg festning" en route to Oslo, about 45 minutes before arrival). During WW2 they made a huge wall under the sea to repel u-boats there, which was later torn down. Anyways, because of this, the water is not shifted that much and can warm up during the summer. During the winter most of the Oslo fjord actually freezes, and you can do some ice skating if you are brave enough..

The climate change makes the sea considerably warmer than it should be these days. Some decades ago it was rather chilly, and somewhat unpleasant unless you were warm from activity. Of course it can change from day to day also.

The water quality in the main waterways in Oslo is not good enough. The main pollutants are from the sewer system, run offs from roads and other dens areas as well as spillage. Oslo municipality has warned citizens not to swim in some of the city's favourite bathing spots after contaminated water is being washed into the Oslofjord. The sea around Oslo is full of e-coli bacteria from Norwegians poo. Norway is not what it seems. Be aware! 🇳🇴🤡
