Neumann headphone division share the same designers and engineers as the Sennheiser professional division. Sennheiser owns Neumann. In terms of ACCURACY at Studio Reference Level, nothing beats the Sennheiser HD400 Pro. They are the best pair of headphones on the market regardless of price IMHO. The only drawback (if you can call it that) is that they are brutally honest/transparent and they don't do well with a lot of ambient noise due to being open backs.

I'm testing them right now. hand-by-hand with Sennheiser HD490 and Audeze MM-100. holy moly.. how good they are! Sennhs and Audeze doing good but not so good)) I didn't found from the start important information - they really sensitive to the placement. that's because Neumann decided to make this angled drive and if you place them wrong you gonna hear lack of high mids. yeap.

One of the biggest advantages is definitely the ADAT connectivity. UAD has only a IN. If you are willing to expand your I/Os then you’re shot out of luck. I’ve been on a Apollo for the last 3 years and I love it but the ADAT connectivity does suck a lot.

I was thinking of buying an Apollo X8 or X8P. Since your video is over a year old, did UA release a new audio interface? If so, what?

Your only point here is stock plugins. Truth is, not many people just use stock plugins. I am upset with Studio One 6.6.1 version though. It's a CRASH nightmare. The previous version was completely stable. They blame outdated plugins which is bullshit. If they don't fix it, I may or may not switch and just use the previous version which could do everything I ever needed a DAW to do and a lot easier than Cubase. I switched from Cubase to S1 years ago because S1 was light years easier to use. No one can also beat the drag and drop features of S1. I was also tired of paying Steinberg money for update after update for the extra synths and plugins. Back then it was like paying yearly subscription fees. They get you one way or another. All these software companies.

But get the arrow combo with the octo-satellite it’s a power house of a portable, with that it will blow out 2 Apollo x8 and don’t have to worry about DSP Any more. That’s the perfect portable professional portable studio for 1,400 think about that

After 3 months with S1 it's too much of an uphill battle. Many great things, but very basic (important) things like undo, recording midi in time (not early) and midi quantize all do not really work correctly. Frustrating to say the least and huge time wasters. I tested Cubase today and all these functions work perfectly. I am seriously considering jumping ship and getting Cubase (in spite of the quirks) since arranging should not be hindered by essential broken functionality.

If there are any buts, I think they should be given some time. luna is really brilliant as young as it is. I use Studio One 6 too but I cannot dismiss Luna. Its sound engine is really brilliant.

I have not used so many Daw:s. My first DAW..... (no it was not a DAW it was just a sequenser) was Cakewalk for DOS. Loved it and used it for many years, and the last one was Sonar. Then I switched to Cubase, a bit of a struggle in the beginning, but now I really like it. The absolute best things with Cubase is the mixer. Never seen any DAW with this feature like snapshot, undo list and zoom. Realy like that. Also like the workflow, easy to understand, Tried S1 once but gave up. I think that is why we like different DAW:s. The workflow, if you don´t like it. you go to another DAW.

Very buggy software. Tried the demo and kept getting notes ringing out after stopping playback, even after changing all settings suggested by others. Also, the fact you can’t just double click to add an instrument or effect to a track, but have to drag everything is stupid. It’s hilarious they act like that is a special feature and not a limitation.

So many DAWs out there. I initially started with a list of FL Studio, Ableton, Logic Pro, Studio One, and Cubase. FL Studio and Ableton don't have score editors, so I had to eliminate them. Logic Pro is Apple only and I only have a laptop and tablet from them. I can connect my laptop to a monitor, but do I really want to go that route? Studio One is still being highly considered, but I wish that they invested more in the acoustic instruments. Cubase has really nice acoustics, but the UI is trash. People say that it's loaded with features, but it appears that Studio One has everything that I need.

I've made my decision of what my 2nd DAW will be. It's going to be Cubase 13 Elements then later upgrade to Cubase 13 Artist, The effects, the new UI, Iconica Sketch, Etc.

I've made my decision that my 2nd DAW is going to be Cubase 13 Elements / Cubase 13 Artist. It's been quite a hot minute to make my final decision to choose the perfect 2nd DAW along with Mixcraft 10.5 Pro Studio. I've though out using Reaper 7, Cakewalk, Waveform 13 Free, Studio One 6.6, Magix Music Maker. But Cubase 13 Elements was the one to go for. I'm definitely looking forward to trying out in the foreseeable future, If all goes well. Then the Elements version will be 2nd primary DAW. Then later down the pipeline. I'll upgrade to Cubase 13 Artist, The Artist version has unlimited MIDI, Audio & Instrument tracks. Studio One will try it's best to outlast Cubase. And it's my own opinion, Cubase 13 blows Studio One 6.6 out the window.

Thanks for sharing! Found it very informative. I recently started back into music and have only used Akai's MPC software since it came with the controller I got. Works for me so far. But I guess ignorance is bliss. Not having used any other of these DAWs, I really don't know what I'm missing out on. I'll probably try Logic out when I get better since I'm on Apple. But I haven't come close to having the software be the limiting factor for me.

Welcome to the family! I just did a video on Cubase and 3 things that makes it the best for Hip Hop/ R&B productions. There are WAY more reasons but I have been using it since Cubase 7.5 coming from Reason for the last 10 years. Cubase is SO under-rated and is a great software. I use Maschine with Cubase and my workflow is FLAWLESS. Dope vid and new sub here. Blessings!

Don't want to change anyone's ideas here. There's no right or wrong. In my opinion, the subscription is a good thing. You pay a known amount, which I think is not very much for a full option software. For some people, like me, who want to experiment a little, this subscription is affordable and within reach. Paying 500 or more euros at once can be a lot of money. After a while it's quite expensive, to again, buy an upgrade. The alternative is buying a cheaper version, but then you're missing functionality. It's also a manner to contribute to the development of the software. These engineers need to work everyday to improve and develop the software. For that they need to get paid too. But as said, others here might have other goals and needs and don't think it's a good thing. I respect that opinion too!

I've never heard of a producer with DECADES of studio experience under his belt completely defend or dismiss a DAW because of a stock plugin. EVER. Generally they use a DAW because of personal workflow or because that DAW is the standard tool of choice where they work. Imagine an engineer getting flustered in the middle of a busy session because the stock EQ in Pro Tools can't accomplish what he wanted in a mix (and also, his forgetting about the $20K worth of 3rd party plugins in his FX folder. Pssst... Fabfilter, anyone?).

Presonus still offers perpetual licenses but will warn you though, nearly every software company is going subscription which you can't run away from. Once Steinberg starts offering subscriptions are you going to keep running to the next DAW?

Cubase is so old, honestly I have the license of cubase and studio one, logic, pro tools. but now my favorite is Studio one. it is bug free and most stable on Macos. Integrated melodyne. quality sound. There is no reason for me to use cubase anymore. Every time I open cubase I feel 30 years older 😂

Hm, If you use the "Studio One+ only" plugins in your mixes you'll need to pay every 12 month to continue working on your project?... What about colaborations?, ...what if a StudioOne+ user shares his project to a "no studio one+ plugins" user? ... It's a big mess.

Absolutely correct on everything. They have some plugins that are okay. Their mixer is great and useful for mastering. It's built entirely for live bands. If you're doing electronic music at all, get ready for frustration. They have NO midi controllers that are worth a damn. Their samples and packs are pure garbage. You want good things then you're buying 3rd party, period. I've had so many frustrations with this DAW it's insane. I don't want to be fighting my software rather than making music.
