As I child I didn't really understood what was going on in the movie but as soon as I saw that hammer and shield, Ajax became my favorite character. And later I got very disappointed when I leaned that there were no big hammer for Ajax in the original Homer's work. But even in the books he was a bit of a badass too, only no hammer.

I always liked that despite his height and his hammer being heavy, Ajax is always quick to react if a strike misses : hits Hector with the back of the arm, or dodges the sword immediately. Hector really defeated a dangerous foe.

Because of this movie, their names will live on forever. Hector went to the store to buy some Ajax but twisted his achille's heel and had to be nursed back to health while recovering at a hospital in Paris.

Yeah that never happened... 😂

Ajax fought several battles during the Trojan War, never being injured. He fought several significant battles with Hector, from which Ajax ultimately had to retreat. In the end, Ajax went insane when he did not obtain the armor of Achilles, and he committed suicide by falling onto his own sword given to him by Hector.

This scene is actually really bad, ajax warhammer is shown to be at least semipointed, so how on earth did that hit right into hectors face/skull do 0 damage besides some dizzyness.

Fun fact: even if someone could freely swing around a Warhammer with one hand no way he could withstand melee combat.
