at 2:06 - in order to move only the rectangle without it's children you could either * toggle `lock children` in the context toolbar on top * or hold down `space` while dragging the rectangle (this is a newer feature and will basically toggle the checkbox mentioned above)

Small supplementary question: If I want to have the three parts of the picture printed on individual canvases to hang on the wall, I have to take into account a small overlap for the left and right side of the canvas for each part picture, i.e. simply dividing by 3 is not possible, do you have any tips for this?

Select the small overlapping portion along with the left or right side and create a new layer with selection. Then move those slices vertically using shift and left or right arrow key.
