Is there any way of you taking a pic of the wick so I could make one,I am only getting 50 seconds of runtime without the wick.Thank you.
@sncf231e2 күн бұрын
There is not much to see; just one strand of wick inserted in the end of the copper tube (and of course long enough to go into the small spirit tank). I cannot upload pics as answers here

Does it look like sewing rhread or wicking material.
@sncf231e2 күн бұрын
@@Deletedaccount-y3v It looks like, very thin wick, material; if it was sewing thread it would have burnt I think, since I have run it a couple of times.

There is a small piece of burner wick material in the end of the burner (copper tubing) in my loco.

Hallo Fred toll was du so alles sammelst !

Now I’m wondering if the train that ran in Egypt also had Pullman, restaurant and baggage cars, and - if yes - what color scheme.
@ivovanzon1645 күн бұрын
Yes those were also white. The Ringhofer version is even more interesting with its forced air intake roof
@sncf231e5 күн бұрын
The CIWL did not have baggage cars in Egypt, so Egyptian Railway baggage cars were used, I do not know their color. Further a number of Pullman cars in blue/creme were delivered to Egypt, but soon these were repainted white.
@sncf231e5 күн бұрын
There were two famous trains in Egypt: the "Star of Egypt"/ "Cairo Luxor Express" and the "Sunshine Express", the latter was a day train with Pullman cars.

Wonderful video. You stimulated me to take finally care fo my green Antal Pacific distributed by Rivarossi around 1950. The moldel I purchased some time ago was heavily "manipulated" and "tried" to work on d.c. 2 rails. I have dismantled completely the Pacific, rectified the current collection for a satisfactory 2 rails d.c. operation and reassembled it. The first test was encouraging and can be seen in a short video on my channel... Do you know that Rivarossi represented several French manufacturers end '40ies/beginning '50ies ?. According to the pictures in Rivarossi Memory, my green Antal 231H 141 should be one of the very few sold by Rivarossi at that time... Concerning the Pacific locomotives, Rivarossi sold in te same period (1947-52) the first FS 691 manufactured by CosMo (COStruzioni MOdellistiche...) in several versions: 3 rails d.c./a.c and 2 rails d.c.
@sncf231e24 күн бұрын
Thank you, I did not know that RivaRossi also sold products of other manufacturers, that is very interesting. CosMo and other smaller Italian companies for H0 are not very wellknown where I live. But I do know and like Elettren, 0 gauge, from Italy!
@fabiodobran91723 күн бұрын
@@sncf231e During their first years of activity Rivarossi represented several foreing companies, some for long time, like Wiking and Faller. At the beginning a lot of models sold by Rivarossi were manufactured by third companies, like CosMo (locomotives and trams), Modital (buildings) or Rivarossi purchased patents (the trolleybus Minobus, an Austrian development). In the case of one freight wagon Rivarossi purchased some parts in Britain (BMP), completed with Rivarossi parts... But Rivarossi was also active in cooperations with other companies selling them special versions of the own models, like Hornby Dublo in Britain. The special models were made in an unique version in 3 rails d.c.. Later (early '60.ties) Rivarossi "swapped" models with Trix, making versions of Italian models suitable for the Trix Express system in 3 rails d.c. and horrible couplings and wheels, and selling in Italy Trix Express models adapted to 2 rails d.c and Rivarossi couplings and with NMRA compatible wheel profiles... The biggest cooperation was in the U.S.A. with AHM (Associated Hobby Manufacturers), selling with the own brand name models from several manufacturers. Curiosly the Diesel locomotive Fairbanks Morse of Rivarossi was later "copied" by Mehanotehnika, which was more reliable and cheaper, and AHM replaced the original Rivarossi with the Mehano one... Also the Austrian company Liliput was very active in cooperations with other companies: Buco in Switzerland in the short lived scale H0, compatible with Märklin, but technically better than Märklin itself, Mecanic, later Mekanik, after a claim from Meccano of Liverpool, in Sweden and very intensively with Trix UK. Some Liliput locomotives, made for Trix UK in Vienna, like the LNER A4, are stll today in the Bachmann catalogue, after Liliput went to the Bachmann constellation. For the U.S.A. Liliput produced very nice coaches branded Con-Cor... I learn a lot from your 0 trains. I have only Distler (this was my first clockwork train, before starting the H0 life...) and the short lived Fleischmann Null, heritage of Doll, plus some few German clockwork trains, added to the collection by chance...

@@fabiodobran917 Thank you. Like you, I find the history of all this manufacturers very interesting. Maybe you have seen some of the e-books I wrote on model and toytrains on my website: sncf231e.nl/
@fabiodobran91723 күн бұрын
@@sncf231e Yes, I did and the catalogue of works is impressive. I try NON to expand too much my knowledge on 0 railways, I see more as an "accessory" of the 1:43 model cars (exactly the opposite of Dinky Toys versus Meccano Railways...) Mu personal opinion is that the scale 1:43 is ideal for car models and 1:87 for train models. In both cases you can easily take one model in your hand and appreciate the details. The trains in 0 are too big and the cars in H0 too small considering this philosophical criterion...
