This is a fantastic movie. I have the unrestored American cut and the original Italian Cut. Can't wait to see the restored American cut. Hope they bring it to South Africa.

I know most of the story behind the creation and restoriation of this movie, but it's still pretty neat to see it summarized in 8 minutes. I wish I can watch it someday via streaming.

Great movie. Possibly her finest role. Subtitles were added after restoration. Mussolini ordered an anti communist movie to be made as communism was a political rival for power. It premiered to great fanfare and when Mussolini saw it he agreed but ordered it be destroyed as it could be interpreted as equally anti facist proving that there is no discernable difference between national socialism (as Hitler referred to Italy and Germany) and communism. The outcome remains the same. Then and now. This movie was done without permission of the author Ayn Rand but after viewing it gave her approval as it remained as close to the novel as could be. And the novel is a great piece of art demonstrating the triumph of the human spirit while living in the most totalitarian regime in human history.

You know what one of the great things Eric did to honor his late son is? He didn't let the tragedy push him off the wagon. He muscled through and stayed sober - to this day.
