I played football in college were 2 of my teammates were from Massillon and the other from McKinley. Man when that game got closer they started talking trash. They took me to that game and man it is a spectacle! About 30,000 people at Fawcett Stadium, celebrities there. Man is was surreal.

I’ve said this before. I live in Georgia and grew up in North Jersey during the Ironhead Hayward era. I’ve seen some pretty good football in both states(especially Georgia). But the four games I’ve attended in the state of Ohio stand out in my mind. The intensity and quality, along with the energy of the crowd just felt like pure football. Fun place to watch a game🏈

Moved to Florida 20 years ago. I miss Ohio H.S. football. I went to alot of state championship games. Games at Hall of Fame Field in Canton. Akron Rubber Bowl. Massillon, McKinley, Moeller. Great teams all over the state.

@JimTrussell Yeah, it's a lot of fun! This year will be at Byers Field, where Iggy plays their home games. There are plenty of great places to eat before the game, including walking distance to Mission BBQ.

@@PatrickRyan150 funny I have seen both schedules for McKinley and Massillon and did not realize Massillon was ACTUALLY going up to Lakewood. I dont think Massillon has played an away game in years that wasnt McKinley, GlenOak or Warren Harding. But I think we will be going. Now, most people in our area in Stark County probably think St. Eds plays their home games at Byers but I know they dont. They play at Lakewood High School right?

I’m from the state of Texas and played high school football that year and we went deep into the playoffs that year in 97 and I remember back before we had social media I use to read the USA Today’s newspaper and would flip it to the sports section and I remember seeing the McKinley Bulldogs out of Canton Ohio as the national champs of high school football and saw that they beat St. Ignatius twice who I saw play on ESPN against the Berwick Bulldogs and convincingly beat them and also finished in the top 25 as well so no doubt that McKinley was just a great football team and I befriended a former Massillon linebacker and now a strength coach there Dan Studer and I asked him about the rivalry with McKinley and Massillon and he Replied it’s the best rivalry in the nation. The week of the game both towns dress up in their apparel and have so much pride for this rivalry yes we hate one another but both teams have nothing but the upmost respect for each other.

What an awesome comment to read!! Yes this McKinley team is no doubt one of the all time greats. Someone (I forget what media outlet) ranked McKinley's 97 team as the 2nd best high school team ever. For the sake of this video, I put best ever. And yes McKinley-Massillon is f'n nuts!! And I have met Joe Studer once or twice. I personally know his older brother, Sam. Sam Studer was my high school math teacher 🤣
