On this house haven’t had dust mites. I’m in Oklahoma, We have chiggers. In Washington state we had flying bugs in our house once but can’t think of what it was and had something small in our bathroom. But, Washington is humid because it rains a lot. My Dad lives in western colorado and people get dust mites. We have chiggers but, I’ve never had chiggers. My ex lives in Denver and I don’t remember dust mites but could have.

I have no room all around trailer btw. how to make it sturdy without just drilling wholes or ankering it in the ground? I love how most of all video for underpinning, the land is flat and pretty never the normal like angled or higher then your head off the ground. lol so with those types, how to put a frame under it how to cut at angles from the ground and bottom of the trailer and all that. I mean their is no videos on KZfaq that shows all that or at lest explain it good enough to follow them while you DIY.

Nice project but how would you deal with possible termite problems?
@suzyhomesteaderoftherockie26384 жыл бұрын
I get the question alot...hard for me to answer since Termites are not really a problem in this part of the rockies....its rodents here that do the damage in the insulation ... but you may want to use treated lumber on all your framing and or use a bug spray around the base and in your crawl space yearly....good luck !

How about a full tour of your home or a tour of the area you live in, why did you decide to homestead ? why the rockies. I think these are the things peole what to know about you and your homestead. Suzy, Question, If you wanted to fill the gaps in the logs what would you use to fill them ?
@suzyhomesteaderoftherockie26384 жыл бұрын
you can use the septic fabric or visquene for the corners and big gap filler foam (use before staining so it sticks better ) in between the logs. There is also log home fillers but more expensive that you can look into-hope that helps and good luck !

@hollygiannelli5 жыл бұрын
Good idea in theory, but doesn’t the frost pick up on it? What do you do then?
@suzyhomesteaderoftherockie26385 жыл бұрын
Your bottom boards for framing need to be treated lumber but the rest of the materials should keep enough heat under there that you will not see frost on the exterior either....I have never seen frost on any skirting in Montana but maybe the case in a wetter state.

I have a 29' roll of this stuff sitting in the middle of my camper, waiting to be installed and tripping me at least a couple of times a day. The idea was to have it installed before I moved in, but I got scared and blamed the cold, rainy weather for my putting it off. I just moved to a farm where there's no chance of this carpet staying clean, and I'd like to get a puppy this spring, so I really, really need to get this done. Thank you so much for this tutorial. It's super helpful. Do you think it would be better not to use glue? I'm concerned about the movement of the camper causing ripples etc. It's stationary for now, but not forever, and there's still quite a bit movement even while parked. In my previous house, we had sheet vinyl throughout and didn't use any glue because of how much the problematic subfloor expanded in the summer months, and there was never any rippling or shifting in the flooring. It was really thick, cushy stuff, whereas what I have now is pretty thin and cheap. I don't know if that's relevant or not. Thanks in advance for your help.
@suzyhomesteaderoftherockie26385 жыл бұрын
If your vinyl is thin you will probably have to glue it so it doesn't tear just from not laying flat enough-you might get away with not glueing if it a thicker heavier grade but I would recommend trying to change your shifting problem first then laying your flooring down with glue......talk to a flooring company about other sub-flooring materials options too-Good Luck !

That is just fantastic! The design is genius. Super functional and looks good, too. All I have is a light on a little stand made of PVC pipe, and I've been dreaming of eventually having a whole shelving unit as a grow rack, but this is SO much better!! I think I need to dream bigger, haha. Excellent build; You should be very proud.

How do I calculate the time to set the timer for the pump and the salt water chlorinator. If the pump has got to be on first then the chlorinator comes on if I set the chlorinator at every 4 hours and I said the pump at every 3 hours eventually they will get offline how does that work
@suzyhomesteaderoftherockie26386 жыл бұрын
the pump just has to be on longer than the chlorinator....what I do is set the pump at 12 hours and the chlorinator at 5 hours BUT turn on the chlorinator about five minutes after the pump goes on (to start that automatic timer )or the chlorinator will show low pump flow cuz the pump isnt on first and will go into sleep mode. They should both go on automatically after that every time.The best time to start this all is in the evenings when the water is quiet (no kids swimming) and then it goes off in the morning. You can do the pump less than 12 hours but it still has to be on longer than chlorinator (5 hours or less)...hope that helps !
