Great video and honest insights Gerrit. I think it sounds like a great plan. You know you _can_ paint a house... but do you really _want_ to paint the house? Outsourcing chores, even if the cash flow hurts, will give you more time to be creative in the workshop. It's about having fun, focus on the projects you get a kick out of. The memory box room looks awesome.!

I keep coming back and have watched this video several times and can see from your "music" room that your creativity hasn't left you. It has just changed focus. That is life. I hope you do not give up on making videos to record your progress in life. It doesn't matter about hits, views and income from U Tube, the universe will resolve that. A wise man once told me to keep doing what you do and people will come. Keep it simple. Record and publish what you want and think is worthy. Do not stress about making it work. Our best wishes.

Hey Garrit! House looks very nice. As with the other responses , it's something we (I) didn't think about earlier in life, and I'm glad for the good days. Hit 79 in June, and even though I'm still building and my mind is active. When I look in the mirror I wonder who is that guy? You mention making things for people and making smaller things. For me I realized that people want it for less. And I don't have and won't be getting a cnc machine that moves repetitively and accurately and quickly which is time and money. Sooo people will appreciate being gifted more than competing to sell what I make. Still have to maintain my old Victorian house, but it's getting ahead of me. And my wife is falling apart before me. But each day is precious and I have much yet to create. Thanks for your thoughts. Nice job of creating a room with limited resources.

Hi Gerrit, This video has really plucked at my heart strings. As you know both myself and Jane have suffered health issues over the last few years and we now instead of doing of doing things ourselves have started to get people in to do them for us. Yes it tis more expensive but in the end it gets done. I don't think I can turn the big platters anymore regularly so will just do them for my best customer who has bought quite a few from me. Whatever you produce on YT I will watch my friend. Take care Gerrit. Cheers, Huw

This has arrived on my birthday! How did you know? Yes, I feel older and I've had to accept the limitations it brings over and over again, especially with my physical health, and I don't have the speed or ideas I had as a much younger man. But I don't mind! I appreciate life and those around me far more than I did back then, my priorities have changed and I realise the things I wanted wouldn't have made me any happier. Thanks so much for confirming all this for me Gerrit. God bless you both. And stay cool - 40C, oh vey!

Gerrit, my friend, you have just talked about all that has been going through my mind and body here these past 3 years at, what was once, Quintal Yurts, but you elucidate it better than I ever could. One such example is the single point of jobs that once took hours but may now take days or weeks to achieve because of physical weakness, pain or mental fog caused by whatever factors. Like you, we have struggled to realise that we cannot do what we once could without help. Sarah and I have wondered about your health and well-being for a while because we have been struggling with a similar realisation that age is stripping us of our abilities. Be well, my friend, and one day we may surprise ourselves and travel North for the visit we have always promised..

I have noticed the same thing myself. The movements slow down and the thoughts don't quite flow like they did when you were young. But that's what the course of life brings. I wish you both all the best and strength for the future!

Indeed Huw, I'm not happy with the quality. (Maybe I should have been warned when finding a company that sells by the pallet, way cheaper than the others) Using the filler, I found at a local DIY store, extensively on the edges and than send it down again, makes it all workout fine. Now working on the sliding doors, finished project in next weeks video!

I'm sorry you have a different experience than Me (and many others). I am using these (CHEAP) tools on a daily bases, and after more than 3 years they are still doing the job. Except for both types of jigsaws, all the 20 volt tools are living up to my expectations. Of course you can not compare a 35 Euro tool with one that costs 350 Euro. (Although in many cases they hold up pretty good compared to expensive brands)

Jimmy Rushing died in 1972, Thomas, these series of photo's was made in 1998 by Jeff Dunas.. so there's more famous and less famous artists missing in the series. There are however more photo's framed, but no more space in the hallway.
