Just ordered Gawith Hoggart & Co. Black Irish X and Brown Bogie twist tobacco. The are never in stock...so grabbed an ounce of each to give them a try. Supposed to be very strong...We'll see what I got myself into 😆 Thanks for the video!

I'm not sure how long they supposed to last as I have at least one cob 10yrs old. The only reason I don't have all cobs is style, really. Briar shapes are more diverse and look more sophisticated. The idea of handing on my briar is a plus as well.

I too use billiard shapes for english blends, but you have given me some good food for thought on why to select certain shapes for certain blends. I appreciate it.

I found by adding a quarter ounce of Green river black cavendish ( unflavored) to a pouch of Velvet takes care of that after taste and maintains the flavor throughout the bowl.. This is just my palate talking.

Coriander, Cardimum, and Mace. Sometimes spelled as “Maze”, not to be confused with corn. It’s good stuff. PS: It’s not a “codger blend”; it’s a pipe tobacco blend. Pipe smokers are supposed to be thinkers. We aren’t usually followers. I’ve never liked all the “online cool” names for all aspects of the pipe and pipe tobaccos, and if you think about it, the term “codger blend” is rather negative. Pejorative. I’m fifty years old now and I’ve enjoyed my pipes and all types of tobaccos for 35 years. Some of those years were financially lean and others were good ones. My “tobacco cellar” has thousands of dollars of now defunct boutique blends from scores of esteemed pipe tobacco blenders regrettably now gone forever. Most have seven years of age in the tins or in the jars. But I still smoke Half and Half once a day... because it’s delicious and well behaved.

Thanks for the review. To me, this years version is missing something. The retrohale on last years was really zesty, had a kick to it. This years so far to me has less flavor.

Nice review, I think Perique is to pipe blends like hops are to beer. I like the punchy profile they bring but too much of a good thing and nuance is lost. When I want a hardy Va/Per I enjoy Bayou Morning (the OG ribbon cut version) - the blend you were probably thinking of in the video. Enough Perique at 25% to be bold but the Virginia still has a chance to show up.

I did a negative review of this about two years ago and I regret it. When I first smoked this this didn't burn and it lacked sweetness but boy did it improve over 18 months. Much sweeter and a bit less malty but very complex and it burned much better. Let it age as it does truly go from poor when new to something very unique once aged.

I just got to try this after the second release. Man, I really like it. It just has so many different wonderful notes coming through. And just when I think I got it figured out it hits me with something else that wows me. Its 5/5 for me.

Thanks for upload. I ask the producer Kopp for the difference and you’ve got right; the cake has a little amount more perique and the flake has got little Orient in which the cake has not. I found it both very well made tobaccos and it seems that RMC never disappoints. Greetings !
