Almost would be helpful to build a couple ballast hoppers for the WW&F railway museum line, it would make spreading and dumping a lot easier. It’s a shame the railroad wasn’t extended, but hopefully sometime in the future it could be. I ridden this line, very nice railroad

My great-grandfather worked on the construction of Maine's early railways. He was from Croatia. He worked for several years, in his young adult years, then returned home. He bought a farm and raised a large family. Sadly his eldest son was killed in the war and left six little children. Great-grandfather played a very active role in helping to raise the children. The eldest was my Dad, who loved hearing all about the years when Grandfather worked in Maine. Thank you so much for this delightful bit of history!

Did the 470 club build that whistle? I know they're trying to restore MEC #470 back to running condition and it certainly will need a working whistle

Wonderful Video! I liked and subscribed! I wish I could have caught it! But I always have missed it

Truly amazing, as someone who has had great experience working on railroads but only just beginning to film them, I aspire to create something half the quality of this. Honestly I think this could be on PBS, this seems like exactly the type of thing Maine Public Broadcasting would love to air.

Brian Falzon I’d beg to differ it’s very much out of key for what a 6” Lonergan 3chime should be. Look up videos of the Climax on the Durban Rocket. That’s what MEC 470s voice should sound like.

@@jamesnobilini7511 There has actually been a theory of the Durbin Rocket's whistle, so apparently, the Durbin's Rocket whistle according to some has MEC markings and this is where it gets good, 470 and the Durbin Rocket spent some storage together for some time, and during 470's last run, she had a 6 Inch Lonergan like her hence the the whistle swap

@@TG-cf6qb yes, this is supposedly a genuine MEC passenger 3 chime. Kind of a unique sound, no? Doesn't sound like any other 3 chime I've ever heard, even when sounding properly, and I have some experience with Lonergan 3 chimes.

1:00:37, is that the whistle they are using on 470???
@jamesnobilini75116 жыл бұрын
At the moment yes, but is a replica of 470s original. A Lonergan 6” 3 chime, however it out of key as we found out when we put on Monson 3 in cooperation with the Maine Narrow Gauge, and you can here in the video where it’s out of key/tune under steam.
