Kirk Douglas was originally cast as Col. Trautman but when he read the script, he insisted that Rambo must die at the end of the movie. When he was told no, Rambo will live, Douglas took the next flight back to L.A. Now they needed someone immediately to play Trautman. Richard Crenna was called and he said "Hell, yeah." Great video, Tomcat.

Kirk Douglas pulled the same stunt on "the Final Countdown", tried to re-write the whole thing, but they shut him up and obviously made it anyway. Richard Crenna did a great job as Troutman. Glad Kirk ditched "First Blood". Troutman was the great father figure at the end. Looked out for "his boy".

I don't get it...This design is the epitome of lackluster, and seems to be aimed at fanboys, with far too much disposable income, and who have more money than sense.....It is a great bit of marketing though, trying to place a none hand made factory produced knife with the aesthetics that only its mother could love, in the same realms of the true legend, who was Jimmy Lile...It doesn't work, and comes across as cashing in on Jimmy's hard work, and well deserved reputation. Anybody can plonk a set of raker and split saw teeth on a knife and call it a'Tribute knife' , when it has absolutely no place, and is a blatant insult to Jimmy Lile's memory.
@tomcat77646 ай бұрын
Dietmar Pohl is a big fan of Rambo and Jimmy Liles Messer. He designed the knives from Rambo-Last Blood at the request of Sylvester Stallon and wanted to complete his personal experience with the MK-9 Legacy. The MK-9 Legacy is not and should not be a copy of Jimmy Lile! It is a reinterpretation of the Rambo knives in the Pohl Force design that does not necessarily appeal to everyone. Personally, I like Dietmar Pohl's knives and see the Mk-9 Legacy as a modern version of the first blood knife. The knife is great, it's light and feels great in the hand. The workmanship of the knife (LIONSTEEL) and the leather sheath (Radar) is excellent. Another example of a successful reinterpretation is the Pohl Force Quebec One.
@jumblesaleboo6 ай бұрын
@@tomcat7764 My point is, that this has absolutely nothing to do with the First Blood knife, but it is being marketed as though it has...Speaking of the MK-9, this was just a tweak to the knife used for a millisecond in the movie Security, changing the grind from a design that already exists, in at least two incarnations, isn't exactly a craft....Also, it isn't what you know, but who you know, and helps if you are pals with the Props Master...It was good to see that there was at least two HANDMADE knives used in the movie, which was the Hibben machete (which had about the same screen time, as the factory made Pohl blades) and Stoil Manchev...Plus a few cheeky performances from the United Cutlery Wes Hibben throwers...
@tomcat77646 ай бұрын
@jumblesaleboo It is not really marketed by Pohl Force as a new First Blood knife. With this knife, Dietmar Pohl has simply realized his own interpretation of the Rambo knives in his design to mark the 40th anniversary. No more and no less. Yes, the price is high, but the quantity is also limited. The prices for knives (like everything else) have risen enormously in Europe, including from other manufacturers. It's difficult to say whether the price is justified. If you want another Pohl Force knife of excellent quality in First Blood style, you have to decide for yourself. If you don't like it, you don't have to get it.
@jumblesaleboo6 ай бұрын
@@tomcat7764 I have no issue with anybody buying any knife they want...HOWEVER, the marketing was blatantly aimed at the First Blood movie, and subsequently it's fans...It could be construed, that a Chancer opportunity was taken, to photograph a certain number of different styles of knives / machetes at the 40th, at some of the iconic locations, such as the junkyard, where Jimmy Lile's knife had some screen time ...I must concur, that it is great business move, but in doing that, does kinda make me feel, that it could also be construed, that loosely using some of Jimmy's dress rights, for inspiration, plus pushing the First Blood narrative, could come across as trying to make something that is mundane, and uninspiring, into something a bit more appealing, by using the vague association, with Jimmy's knife and the movie...Kinda like spraying deodorant onto a dog do.....
@jormajortikka66826 ай бұрын
@jumblesaleboo Agree 100%. 795€ for a factory produced knife with average steel and it has not appeared in any film. Oh well, Dietmar is laughing all the way to the bank...
