Okay I thru my 305 original period correct away and the T5 got trashed as well.

I did the 305 solely because I know from experience a mild 350 will tear the t5 to shreds, whereas the 305 can scream at high end but won't tear up the trans as bad. This thing is getting LS swapped next year, I just wanted to have it drivable this coming summer for cheap until the LS/T56 driveline is ready to go.

@@burnsumrubber9904 that’s cool!! I will watch whatever you post on your car I am way into the 3rd gen I am moving on to the computer and gauges. I take each step in the build and study what others are doing then I choose the right way for me as far as budget and my ability. I have done everything my self so far but now I have it at our shop where I have a lift and some help so I can finish the car before summer Check out my car!!

I gave you a thumbs up because of all the work you just did to a 3 rd gen!!!! Hell ya. But a period correct 305????? Why ? I took the 305 engine out of my 92 and thru it away as well as the T 5 transmission

Very late reply on my end, but the answer is because I wanted something cheap and temporary while I build the Turbo LS which is in progress. Paid $500 for the 305 which was recently rebuilt with a nice choppy cam. May be slow, but it sounds good 🤣🤣. Drove it all of last summer (4000+ miles) with zero failure.

That's cool. I swapped from a 2.8L V-6 to a 350 V-8 in my '83 Firebird.

does the stock transmission from v6 work with a v8? or does it disintegrate

@@CKTOlson Not really. Might need to lengthen a wire or two, and shorten a wire or two, but everything is already there.

Hi Jim! As you know, the 261 is going to pull the 25th Anniversary of Returning to Steam on September 22nd. I’m a member of this lovely engine for seven years. I’m from Pennsylvania though.
