Emerging from being surrounded by trees into the valley at 16:10 is indescribable. The absolute beauty of pulling over and walking out into the middle of that golden grassy field, being surrounded by the gorgeous mountains, is truly amazing. And that's only the beginning of this drive. This little corner of the world is so special. I've only been to New Zealand once, but even if I never go there again for the rest of my life I will never forget it.

Love it. Never been to Death Valley, but this would be perfect weather. Thanks for not waiting for a sunny day.

No it wouldn't. I worked in Death Valley in 1968-69. Saw 130° on the Furnace Creek NPS Visitor Center's thermometer sign. Most people cannot imagine temperatures like that, don't realize the terrible strain that it puts on a motor vehicle. If that vehicle dies, in the middle of the day, so can you if you don't know what you're doing. Nearly every year there are deaths of novices to desert environments coming out to Death Valley to "experience" summer heat. They foolishly drive their vehicle to failure, then try to walk for help. Worse yet are the macho types who decide to hike during the heat of the day. Unprepared can suffer terminal heat stroke and dehydration in a very short time. Ironically, many of these preventable deaths are foreigners hoping to impress their friends back home. The place is a geological wonder with one of a kind scenery, plant and wildlife BUT in an environment that DEMANDS respect and that respect comes from knowing where you are and what it takes to survive any situation that might arise. Been there, Done that.

I've made this drive many times, thanks for the video.
Retired now at 82, so I'm not gonna make NZ, as much as I would love to. But you, my friend, have saved me the trip. Just as you have with all of your postings. I'm extremely grateful for what you do for me, and I can probably say for many of us silver hair seniors. Thanks lol.

Great how many amazing places on the face of the Earth you've already been to, and this is definitely one of them - incredible drive from low, dry and hot plains towards the high and snowy Sierra Nevada (but now anything is possible as for climate - even heavy rains in the extra dry places 💦😅...)

Good video. It's good that it's in real time and with real sound, not music. Like for your patience, mute the entire video. Wonderful views. Greetings from Galicia (Ukraine).
