The Quran doesn’t refer to them to admonish the polytheists. The context of the Ayat in which these names occur reveal a certain secret of Sura Yussuf. In Ayah (12:36) it told about 3 people in the prison. And the word أَحَدُهُمَآ is used to describe one of the two prisoners who entered with Yussuf. The word ٱلْـَٔاخَرُ is used to describe one other one of these 3 people; The tradition says it means the other one, to be the other prisoner. But the Quran rejects this interpretation: ‎(19) أَفَرَءَيْتُمُ ٱللَّـٰتَ وَٱلْعُزَّىٰ ‎(20) وَمَنَوٰةَ ٱلثَّالِثَةَ ٱلْأُخْرَىٰٓ Have you not physically observed (the Ayat about) The Naysayer (the one of the prisoners who rejected Yussufs invitation to Abrahamic Monotheism) and the one (of the prisoners) who was brought near to the Malik Al-Azeez, to intimidate to him? And (have you not physically observed the Ayat (12:90) about) Yussuf telling his brothers that ‎(90) قَدْ مَنَّ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْنَآ ۖ Allah bestowed Manna upon him? (thus named Manat in the afterlife as a “source”) - who is the third , one of the others. (53:21) ‎(21) أَلَكُمُ ٱلذَّكَرُ وَلَهُ ٱلْأُنثَىٰ Is it for you to fix the masculine labels in the story - to declare ‎ٱلْـَٔاخَرُ to mean the second one, but it is to Allah to fix only the female labels and declare ‎ٱلْأُخْرَىٰٓ to mean the third one? ‎(22) تِلْكَ إِذًۭا قِسْمَةٌۭ ضِيزَىٰٓ That then is an arbitrary, inequitable (unjust) division (of the definitions for the labels); [while it was always up to Allah to fix the labels, as you about to learn:] Here the follows the strong confirmation: Ayah (53:23) has a Marking to Ayah (12:40): Sura (12): إِلَّآ أَسْمَآءًۭ سَمَّيْتُمُوهَآ أَنتُمْ وَءَابَآؤُكُم مَّآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ بِهَا مِن سُلْطَـٰنٍ ۚ Sura (53): إِلَّآ أَسْمَآءٌۭ سَمَّيْتُمُوهَآ أَنتُمْ وَءَابَآؤُكُم مَّآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ بِهَا مِن سُلْطَـٰنٍ ۚ (They - all the labels that the misguided interpreters apply to the Quran; are) but Labels that you and your forefathers have named, and in which Allah has not instilled authoritativeness. It’s the exact same thing Yussuf told these prisoners. So this marking allows to make the link from the female labels to their male counterparts. Yussuf was called Manat after his death in the afterlife, because the female as an attribute is a source of divine inspiration, while the male is the recipient of the inspiration. Read again and you will be convinced that these three names are related to Sura Yussuf! Salaamun Alaykum.
