Thank you for posting Mathew. Very informative. It's definitely the way to go. I tried a tow bar mounted bike carrier but it's too low and the handlebars will only damage the bodywork or break windows. Do you have any more videos of your van?

Thanks for this video Matthew! I've got a newer Connect with different shaped doors that are cut round the tail lights, so I'm tempering my enthusiasm to buy one of these racks. Could you tell me how wide your door is? It looks like the rack wouldn't work with a smaller door as the frame wouldn't have enough horizontal bar to screw on to - right?

Hi. Don't know about new connect. Not sure bike carrier will fit. Have you seen anyone else put this carrier on a new connect?

Very very nice! Can I ask how come the doors of your boot come out sideways and not from the top? Did you ask for this specifically? And is it a H2 model? It looks a bit taller than other tourneos
@soloseadog
@soloseadog 3 жыл бұрын
It is the long wheelbase Ford tourneo connect from 2011. Barn doors are standard for lwb and has higher roof too so more space inside. The swb can have either barn doors or as tailgate.

I like your distribution. My question is: are you comfortable sitting in the back with the table? I'm 5'10" and I think I need around 130cm to be comfortable while sitting, while most of the minivans are around 120cm tall in the back. Thanks!
@soloseadog

The bike carrier wouldn't fit a Ford transit custom as the rear doors are curved..

Hey Matthew, thanks for the video, I'm currently investigating the best rack to mount on a Ford Transit 2008, and it seems to be the DJ 200 from Fiamma. Do you have any idea if an extension kit for a 3rd bike exists with this rack? Cheers!

So I found the doors to flex quite a bit with the carrier on which is OK for two bikes but I wouldn't try and add a third bike. What I do is put my kids small bike on the roof. A small, light bike isn't too difficult to get on the roof. But the dj bike carrier is the way forward with the connect.

I have a Ford Tourneo connect year 2008. The idea is great, but the wheels cover the back lights and this is not good. Everything is set too low I can not believe that for my type of vehicle, no manufacturer makes a bicycle carrier. Anyone else has any idea. This type of car ( kzfaq.info/get/bejne/oNdmprtn1Lq-onk.html ) Excuse me, my English is not good

The bike carrier would work fine for your van as it is the same as mine. To overcome the problem of covering the lights and registration plate you have to hang a light board on the bikes and of course this means wiring up a light board socket like I mentioned in the video. I spent years tryung to find a solution. After speaking to a Dutch company mini camper. Nl they told me about the bike carrier. There is a second option as well. Just check out their website.

Matthew thanks for the reply. One more question . What's the look and feel of a light board that you install on bikes and what's the difference between the Carry bike 200 D and the Carry bike 200 DJ

It should fit fine on a 2009 van and the main part of the bike rack can be removed with ease leaving the two horizontal support bars. I never drilled mine and it has never dropped and its secure when strapped up. There is some play when you drive a long bit its th e best thing you'll get for a ford transit connect. I fitted a Fiamma vw bike rack the other day to a vw which fits on one of the barn doors and clips over the top and the movement in that was unreal plus they try to pull the top of the door away. My one is secured low down so no probs there. Just a pain it obstructs lights and plate
