Setting rev limiters at 1900 RPM is a good example of poorly thought out design that takes away control from the driver while not considering the safety issue created. The inability to out the truck back in gear past 1900 creates a dangerous situation where you will be unable to recover from a mistake or a mechanical problem. The best rev limiter is the driver. The machine is ignorant to the situation.

Thank you, this really helps me understand it better. But what I most want to know most is why on earth we have to put up with this. The Europeans have more powerful trucks that haul heavier loads on worse roads, but they have synchronized transmissions. Scania can take an engine producing 770hp and 3500 lb-ft and run it through a 16 speed that shifts like a car, but Eaton needs a SpEcIaL gearbox to get like 200 less horsepower and a thousand less torques to the ground. I don’t know, it just make Eaton seem a little dated. And lame. Like someone insisting the musket is just as good as the bolt action, if you “just know how to use it right.” Oh please.

Getting ready to take a test, the issue is the "3 foot" section you have to stop in. You aren't allow to walk it off in back and then front to know where to stop, other then just "eyeing" it how do you ensure you don't over shoot or under shoot the spot?
@user-zr6pl6nb6z
@user-zr6pl6nb6z 3 ай бұрын
Estimate the distance, then pick a spot that you think is that same distance to the rear of your driver's side door, then back to that spot.

There is no shortage of safe experienced drivers....they just can't keep them because the pay is crap. You'll make more working at McDonalds. Super long hours and they treat you like crap because they can always get some newbie to take your place....except they end up killing people !

Why would anyone want to drive a truck. It doesn't pay enough to sacrifice your license and everyone treats truck drivers like shit

A truck driving job is the worst job I have ever had. I did it for a long time. Sitting in the seat of that truck steering it down the road for such a longperiod of time is not healthy. I mean day after day, week after week, month after month. And during down time you are so mentally tired from driving very few want too excersize. It is hard on a Marriage being gone for Months at a time. And then only being home for ten days and then gone again for months. The money can be decent if you are a owner operator. But you wont get rich with only one truck and you as the only employee.
