It troubles me that Church leaders never have had to "wrestle" with Truth. Have never had to change personal views to fit God's revealed Truth. The Bible recognized the existance of Slavery, yet when people joined Judaism, slaves were to be set free. Why didnt BY do something like that if he was Listening to God and was Divinely Led?

The way you confirm and verify the truth of the Book of Mormon is to read it and ask God. That being said, the evidence for the Book of Mormon--specifically, Lehi's journey--is overwhelming. You have no idea what you are talking about.

That many parallels would indicate that the BOM was historically reliable and therefore plausible. It would not prove the BOM was a fact. If they found archeological evidence of Alma in the Americas…it would not mean that Jesus rose from the dead and visited the Americas…. Faith is necessary for Christian belief…

Royal Skousen from BYU has argued that the facsimiles should be dropped from the Book of Abraham and its contents considered as having been given by revelation. The internet has through youtube presentations given people access to loads of information on the Bible and presented questions that show problems with the historicity of the exodus and conquest. Southern Baptists are leaving that church they went from 16 million to 13 million. Members have been shocked with attitudes towards gays and abuse in the church. The growth of the "nones" is the fastest growing demographic. in religion today.

It’s a shame that cults are allowed to call them churches, giving them license to perpetuate lie after lie, as well as literally picking our pockets for tithing and all the tax break they get. No charitable contributions beyond a few nickels and dimes here and there. Bogus from the get-go.

Cool video man, you seem to really know your stuff! I am a big fan of Ward Radio and Cardon who I find Hilarious and a great defender of our faith so I did find your video a bit interesting as well. That being said, I agree with a lot of what you were saying, that you just can't compare the archeological evidence for the Bible to the evidences/theories people have come up with for the the Book of Mormon. The main reason for this is that the events and places in the Bible have been very well recorded in languages that have been around for a long time that many people still study and speak. Also, The places mentioned in the Bible have been populated for a long time with their own well-documented histories. Because of this, of course we can verify with evidence many of the events that took place in the Bible. The Book of Mormon, on the other hand, largely took place in the America's where only about one percent of the ancient American lands have been archeologically found/explored. And many of the sites that we have looked into, debunked lots of reported anachronisms found in the Book of Mormon. Also, there is a TON of actually recorded historical evidence looking into the coming forth of the Book of Mormon through the prophet Joseph Smith and the gold plates that if anyone will seriously look into, they will surely find that Joseph Smith's recorded experiences and the rock hard testimonies of at least 11 others hold a lot of authenticity. There is no way that uneducated 23 year old could have written something so profound and so complex in less than 9 months that has blessed the lives of so many, including mine, and have witnessed unto them that Jesus is the Christ and that the living Lord speaks through living prophets on the Earth today. I probably could have said more but I tried to keep it concise. I believe God has given us very intuitive brains for a reason and I respect anyone who strives to learn as much as they can, especially about Him and His gospel. That being said, one sure-fire way to learn more about our Savior is through reading and praying about the Book of Mormon.

Well, actually, they have found a home in Israel with the name of Lehi on it and a grave in the area spoken of where Ismael was buried so who knows. I think we will just have to wait a little longer and see what happens. It stands to reason that there are peoples throughout the world with ancient history that we don't yet know about but new information does and will come forth. I am not an LDS apologist, I am actually on my way out but I still believe in God, Christ, the Holy Ghost the Bible and the Book of Mormon. I am pretty sure that Joseph was called by God to translate the gold plates. But then I am also one of those who believes Joseph didn't practice nor preach polygamy. I almost believe Brigham and his cohorts killed Joseph and Hyrum. Joseph announced that he was going to start giving the polygamists the axe and a few months later he and his brother were dead. Not long after that the next family member, Samuel, was poisoned. You know what is ironic? Brigham Young was trying to fix it so his son would be the next "prophet" so it was time for him to go because John Taylor was next in line and he may have killed before and may have done in old Brigham. The church's official cause of death was ruptured appendix but someone sent a letter describing the symptoms to five doctors and they all said that those were not the symptoms of ruptured appendix. So somebody poisoned him. Maybe John had it done or could have been Brigham's wife, the mother of a lovely teen age daughter that Brigham had promised to a buddy of his. Maybe she did it. And so the plot thickens as we ask "Who done it". Thanks for the video.

How fascinating. Thanks for sharing your view here amigo. Yeah I think I see where you are coming from. Yeah, the Lehi ideas I have no confidence in at all. That's why I say the level of the Hezekiah information would seal the deal, especially if others who are not Mormon got on board with the evidence definitely pointing to the reality of the man. It's just not there. At least in my view.

@@TheBackyardProfessor I can't argue with you on that. I am taking the wait and see approach. Until then I do appreciate the contents of the Book of Mormon. I know that there are Non Mormon churches who are also using the Book of Mormon in their meetings. So whichever way it turns out, it is a good one to have on hand.

So, do you believe the part about the Angel of the LORD??? Many people only believe in the parts that have evidence. Seems unlikely that an Assyriain king ( the most barbaric army at that time period) would leave a Free Gift of Jerusalem without a catastrophic event.
@TheBackyardProfessor
@TheBackyardProfessor 4 сағат бұрын
No, I'm just saying something happened and the biblical account says it was the Angel of the Lord who saved Jerusalem. There has been speculation in the scholarship that it was some kind of disease, or rats that ate all the bow strings, etc. SOmething happened to prevent the Assyrians from capturing Jerusalem.

I'm easier than you. I don't need an event or an individual to be identified. I'd settle for a few pot shards, found in context, that depicts an unambiguous BoM scene, or with modified Egyptian/Hebrew telling a BoM story or name even. Meanwhile the literate Mayan depict their stories on everything! They put owner's names on virtually everything. Every pot is labeled what it's meant to contain and the year it was made. Their stories are engraved on rock stelae and pyramid stairs, painted on pots and walls, written in rubber books. It's everywhere! Their Hopewell contemporaries likewise have left all kinds of pottery and soapstone carvings and symbols. Unlike the Mayan, Hopewell art is devoid of writing, so these are not the literate Nephites, and not a single scene of a BoM story or event on anything. Just one well documented artifact is all that is needed, and frankly, should have been found by now for it being a history book. Instead there's nothing but silence from the archaeological, ethnographic, and historical records. On both sides of the ocean.

He's making such a strange argument, because there still isn't any archaeological evidence for the Book of Mormon. That hasn't changed. And the anachronisms and historical inconsistencies that suffuse the Book of Mormon are enough to prove all on their own that the Book of Mormon is a work of fiction.
