Born and raised in SC moved away (still have all my family living there) I’m living in SLTahoe love it here reminds me of the old SC . I miss the downtown area when the cooper house had live music you could walk your dog anywhere then . I go home to visit family and it’s not the same the people are rude and unfriendly. Really sad 😢

I own a condo for 24 years and living in. We had a couple termite treatments in the past. The last time was 7 years ago. They always treated outside in the soil around the building. Few months ago i found a soft spot in the balcony wood, called HOA to inspect for a replacement. They finally decided to tent the building this time (4units). I sm not comfortable with the fumigation worrying over the harmful chemicals that affect my health afterwards and in long term. Am very allergic to everything almost. The termite company explained that depending on what kind of chemicals applied. All they said does not convince me from anxiety thinking about it. I requested to change to the method previously used. BTW none of the tenants/owners in the building experience or seeing the presence of termite except the rotten wood on my balcony. Moving out temporarily a week for the process is not an issue for us but the idea of poison injected into the home is a big concern not to say like a nightmare. Am i and are my neighbors too exaggerated over this treatment? I would like to have yor opinion. Thank you.

I know sure as hell my 3 spots treatments have done NOTHING. Still find piles of coffee grinds (termite shit) around my house. Next up, try a tent. We bought a house that had a person passe away in and wasn't told. But I could feel it. I went to a physic a few years later and ask. She told me it was the male owner but not the previous owner. She told me what do to and things stoped. 13 years later I found out by talking with a neighbor it was the original owner that passed away in the basement and I already knew by feeling it! He asked me if weird stuff would happen I said yes but that I took care of it and I stoped! Apparently the previous owners just couldn't deal with it and that's why they moved after such a short time!!!!! Now we are looking to move and of course the house we like the most the male owner passed away naturally in it!!!! Before I had that information I told my husband I have a feeling the old man died in his bed in the house!!! 😮 I have yet to confirm he passed in his bed but he probably did. It doesn't bother me as long as it wasn't a violent death. I'm that qui d of personne who feels it anyway so you can't hide it from me! Once I walked in and out and refused to go back in because I could feel something horrible had happened in there!!! My husband at the time didn't understand but now he does!

I never thought about asking for death records, the process of buying a home was already so stressful. It was a flipped house too so I can’t reach out to the sellers. Exactly, you totally left out the biggest con. I'm tired of being in danger, hearing screaming, aggressive madmen cursing fowl language day and night, being threatened on the street by vagrants with bats or knives (I'm not exaggerating.) A local beloved business owner was stabbed to death downtown in broad daylight by a junky. I grew up here. Santa Cruz is turning into Gotham City. The drug epidemic and rate of homelessness is unbelievable. People are dying right on the sidewalk, overdosing on fentanol, and people walk past them because homeless people sleeping all over the place is so ubiquitous that no one bats an eye. People are entitled and rude, they honk their horns at me almost every time I am driving anywhere because I have the gall to get in their way by following traffic rules like the speed limit or "no turning on red" etc. There is drug paraphernalia in the street and the beaches. This is not a good place to raise children. I don't recommend moving here.

I was in San Francisco yesterday and it was so beautiful, but it's always good to come back home to Santa Cruz, a home away from Paradise...🌴🌴🌴

Thank you for this post! I am swaying towards not tenting. We noticed termite damage at my mother's house. We plan on replacing the roof very soon. Our plan was to have them fix/replace any damage at the same time. The roofer said if they saw any damage whether active or old they would spray the area. Would an alternative be to have the home treated by a pest control company and set up follow up treatments each year? She lives in SoCal. Is there such a thing as a specific season where termites are more active or good source of food is good during any season? Thanks again and sorry for the long reply!
