Even if the wiggle was is slightly faster, who cares? It looks wank, and pushing is way faster and lower effort.

Hey, where is this road exactly in Uluwatu? :) I am wondering if I should bring my board to Bali or not
@MAKOSurfskate4 ай бұрын
Hey! It's the road going down to Uluwatu temple.. It's been getting a bit busy with cars/bikes though recently...so you may prefer to stick to the skate parks instead of the roads. There are some SICK skateparks here in Bali though, I'll link you to a blog post we shared recently about them all. If I were you, I'd definitely bring my board. Or you can just buy a Mako board when you're here :) makosurfskate.com/the-best-skateparks-in-bali-for-surfskate/

I think the forehand pumping is the easiest to learn. But wich one générate more speed , forehand or backhand ? Why not Both on the same ride? It’s like rowing in a kayak. Good or bad? Thank you. I love your vidéo.
@MAKOSurfskate4 ай бұрын
That’s a very interesting question. I personally find pumping on my forehand easier and faster as that’s the one that I use the most, but I think you can get as good at pumping on your backhand as you pump on your forehand.

I need to do the course. I can only keep it moving on slight downhill slope. On flat I just cannot move after initial push/roll. Is part of it a strength thing? I've got kinda chicken legs lol
@MAKOSurfskate6 ай бұрын
Hey there, no worries! Yeah so when you learn how to pump, you can generate your own speed so you don’t need a downhill slope. It does require leg strength but you’ll develop this as you learn it :) When you get really good, you’ll even be able to pump uphill! I’ll link the course here so you can check it out: You can read more about it here… makosurfskate.com/course/

Nice video! Any tips on practicing switch?
@MAKOSurfskate6 ай бұрын
Hey there! Thanks for the comment, and yeah of course... So if you're starting out, I'd recommend you practice first with pushing switch. This will help you tons as it will help you understand weight distribution between the front and back foot. It's not gonna feel comfortable - I've been doing it for a while and it still feels weird to me - but it's a really amazing feeling when it starts to click! And I've noticed that getting better at switch has improved my regular stance loads too, so I'd always encourage practicing as much as you can. Let me know how you get on and if you have any specific questions, I'd be happy to help.

So what do you recommend to do? Compress on the toes or the heels? The situation is when we're trying to pump while saving energy at the same time. Which one should we choose?
@MAKOSurfskate7 ай бұрын
hello! So if you're working on your backhand pumping - you wanna compress onto your toes, and then extend onto your heels, then compress again onto your toes, etc. If you're forehand pumping, it's the other way around. So compress onto your heels, and then extend onto your toes, etc. If you don't surf (and only use the surfskate for cruising), backhand and forehand is less relevant because you aren't forced to go in the direction of the wave. So you can do whichever you like! There isn't really a "right" or "wrong" one to choose. I hope this clears things up for you, let me know if you have any more questions!

I guarantee I can wiggle faster than you can pump.....its all about technique. With a Meraki, or similar swing pivot system try this, once you are moving, close in your foot stance fairly narrow but still comfortable, crouch a little, and lock in your lower body. Now, instead of pumping, just powerfully rotate your lower body thinking of your feet being planted and all you're doing is rotating your lower body clockwise and counter clockwise as fast and powerful as you can, while remaining smooth and in control. The idea is to have as little truck turning/steering as possible while transfering the rotating force into forward momentum. You should not be leaning at all, nor should your trucks be leaning. You are only engaging the swing pivot motion to pull you forward. Also, your front foot is not swinging the front, your rotating lower torso in a locked position with a locked front and rear foot stance is.The less turning/leaning and more straighter forward you go the faster your speed will be. This is by far the most efficient way to quickly generate speed on a surfskate.

Really great video to showing us how to generate speed and drive on the frontside. I would love to see the same video all on generating speed and drive on the backside. Everything must be reversed. Bending low while doing a “toe-edge” turn and driving up (jumping) when on the heel edge turn.
