That is one of the stories, yes. I was never able to find any specific examples of this phrase being used in a widespread way and referencing the railroad. Since making this video I've found the idiom predates the early 1900s and 1891 so I still think baseball is the most likely origin. All the examples of the phrase being used in a more specific sense are in regards to baseball. I doubt that the railroad watch is the correct origin and that is why I didn't include it.

So: "He is a 6 year old boy." "That boy is 6 years old." Also probably no need to use the past perfect in 'my pen drive had been delivered.' A native speaker would just say 'when my pen drive was delivered.'

It can mean the same, yes but 'blow one's mind' is more general and describes anything that is shocking, amazing, etc. To blow/knock one's socks off is used to mean that something that will impress you or affect you greatly. The big difference is that 'blow/knock one's socks off' is used to describe how something WILL affect a person: "This movie will knock your socks off." "That movie blew my mind." We wouldn't normally say 'that movie knocked my socks off.' Many times, they could be used interchangeably, though!
