Could we soap get the Daleks to play this jingle when they Exterminate!! the horse and leave it to decomposing like 140 beached pilot whales?! If everyone has a horse you need about 900kgs to feed it over winter. Save the whales please.

As the price of hay continues to rise, I've decided to save & use every blade of grass I cut this year. Drying & putting up hay loose or if I can find the blue prints for this box , I'll be hand baling my hay.

Great!; kindly could you make a step by step video on how to make this baler?

Is this how they baled hay in Farmer Boy?
@SmithPLovatt Жыл бұрын
Never read it but I suspect not. In those days they stacked hay in ricks outdoors, thatched with straw against the rain.

Are you still picking by hand?
@SmithPLovatt2 жыл бұрын
Yes we picked 43 kg from 400 sq m this year. We were hoping for more but the weather was not good during the growing season. Thanks for the comments

This is what you call an artisanal hay bail. Extremely low carbon intensive operation. Very cool. Cute but impossible to replicate. I grew up farming in Snowville UT on 1,285 acres. The whole valley 20 families farmed and ranched is now all owned by Berkshire Hathaway.

Good job! What's your preferred method of threshing? I cut my small scale plots with a sickle, but also right below the head, so that most of the stalk stays upright. For threshing I will pour the heads into a large rain barrel. Then a paint mixer with attached chains will do the threshing, so that I end up with a mix of seed and chaff. Afterwards it's time to winnow and et voila we got our heritage grain seeds ready for milling.
@SmithPLovatt3 жыл бұрын
That sounds like a great and cheap method of threshing . I was not so inventive and imported a PTO driven stationary machine 5HP from Basant Industries India. It works very well but is very expensive for such a small amount. I have advertised it hoping to share it with other small scale growers but found only one so far.

I have a BCS two-wheel tractor with a 13hp gas engine. Your Pasquali looks much stronger. Those metal wheels are impressive too! I was pretty sure that was a diesel. The "knock" of it is very noticeable in this vid.
