Please post this to Steinberg and everywhere else they might see it. The search functions in Cubase or any Steinberg plugin or instrument are all terrible, and this highlights a probable reason why they're not more popular. They absolutely need to address this! Thanks Anthony!

The fact they modeled the knee lever makes this the best farfisa model by far. Nord needs to add the knee lever modeling for their Nord Elecrtros.

Hi! How precise it is to measure headphones in this way, the error margin would be around -1 +1?
@OneManAndHisSongs2 күн бұрын
I have no frame of reference by which to answer your question. I was as careful as I could be, but it was clearly a home experiment. All I can say is that before I ran this test I had no idea at all about safe/reasonable volume levels with respect to my headphones, and afterwards I feel more confident that I do.

Another great video Anthony. You touch upon a lot of items the other Cubase teachers do not. Is there a chance you can do a tutorial on on preparing a mixed song for mastering ( Wavelab) and eventually exporting for streaming services? dB's/ LUFS/ maximum loudenss guidelines. Thanks so much in advance.
@OneManAndHisSongs2 күн бұрын
Thanks for the feedback! I don't use Wavelab, so have to say no to that request, but I'll add your other request to my 'to-do' list.

Thanks for this video! Curious though when using the Q-Link option on multiple tracks that have volume automation already on them...Would I have to "disable" each read auto button on the track before using Q Link? Im fearing that everything will snap back to what it was before. ( I am trying to bring Volume down on the majority of my tracks before trying to Master a song) Or will Q Link overide everything that is automated? Thanks again.
@OneManAndHisSongs2 күн бұрын
Q-Link just deals with the linking of the tracks - what you do with that linking is then down to other functions. If you're doing a mass update, for example, then engage Write Automation, and it will apply the change to every linked track.

Thanks Anthony! I thought I was the only one confused about MediaBay's search engine. No one discusses this on the forum. Have you tried this for sampling external hardware synths? It works in the standalone but in the VST you cannot set start record to midi-on and stop record to audio threshold. You end up with empty files.

Hi Anthony, I have watched lots of your videos and they are very useful in understanding lots of things!!! Just a quick question: I have bought, registered, activated and downloaded Halion 7. Why then when I try to load Halion 7, I only get the option to load Halion SE3. I load it in however and then the instrument name in top left is Halion Sonic 7, not Halion 7 as in your video? I still have access to all the Halion 7 instruments such as FM lab etc. However the 'load', 'programme', 'media bay' &' browser' don't show up as in your video?These are the options above the 'factory' and 'user' on the top right. (I was trying to go through the steps in this video, I loaded 3 oscillator lead OK but cant access the prg tree) Not sure you can answer this one TBH as it may be something to do with my system specifically. I have downloaded Halion 7 more than once as I thought that may help, but no joy! Thanks
@OneManAndHisSongs7 күн бұрын
Are you running it inside Cubase? If so, have a look in your Studio\VST Plugin Manager\Instruments tab to make sure it's visible. Another place to look is in the Steinberg Library Manager to confirm that it's properly installed
@Heldproductions7 күн бұрын
@@OneManAndHisSongs Hi, ahhh yes I added it in the plug in manager to the Steinberg column in Cubase and its showing up now. There is no sign of it in the library manager, not even under the Halion tab as perhaps would have been expected. All that shows up here are the Halion plug ins. However that's ok as I can access it in Cubase now I'll be able to follow the steps you go through in this video now. Thanks so much.

CCGFAEBD have you tried writing a song using these notes ?
@Byron101_8 күн бұрын
People should learn to use it: you can hide everything and build your own small clear media bay that suits to your taste and workflow... I wish other DAWs also had such a great flexible weapon like this.
@Byron101_8 күн бұрын
Media Bay is a unique real weapon !! I can´t live without it, I must say. So many great possibilities. I built my own reduced media bays. Yes, you can have multiple ones for special tasks. Once you understand the concept, it makes sense. ..of course you have to learn to handle it, but it's worth it! If you don't like the MB - you still have the simple browser in the right zone. That's flexibility.
@synthplayer15639 күн бұрын
Your videos are a great help. Thank you. It's a real shame. Cubase has really good MIDI functions from the past, but the newer developments are less basic and more fancy. However, the Media Bay is actually the only solution I know of that combines all VST presets from all VSTs under one browser.
@OneManAndHisSongs7 күн бұрын
That's the frustrating thing about the MediaBay - it's so close to being superb

Wow what a mess - and well done for unpicking it. Because of the problems with MediaBay(s) that you have highlighted before, I try to use it as little as possible: I never add any user data to the database and I only filter by keyword either in 'name' or all fields - at least that always works. Presumably the logical filter page of MediaBay would be one alternative approach since this graphical filter page is so weird. While it is sort of helpful that MediaBay would go to the Character field when Properties is null (given the s***show that is there) it is a pretty weird behaviour and - as you've demonstrated - it doesn't work consistently. So another approach would be to edit the database to replace all nulls with a blank in Properties on the database. At least you'd get consistent behaviour that way. A final thought - the best of all options, Anthony, would be for you to write us your own version of MediaBay. Go on, you know you want to spend days of your life replacing a terrible interface for a terribly designed database 🙂
@OneManAndHisSongs7 күн бұрын
Lol, don't tempt me! I did actually write my own sequencer many years ago, back when DAWs were called sequencers! These days my software dev is limited to occasionally tinkering with my beloved Guitar Tutor. I imagine lifting the hood on Cubase would be more akin to spelunking :)
@cykkm9 күн бұрын
I could never understand these properties, neither in Cubase nor in Halion. I don't use many libraries outside of the standard Halion's 40GB monolithic monstrosity, as I mostly design my own sounds, so it's not a major problem for me. But I've been surprised by these obscure tags appearing or disappearing, apparently with a perfect randomness. :) I didn't go as far as looking for the database. We're lucky that it is a regular MySql database: Cubase has been around so long that it could have easily been written in-house 15 years ago... This is precisely why I value your channel so much: like you, I always try to get to the bottom of it to learn my tools. I'm like a mechanic who on the first day at a new job pulls out the tool chest drawer and finds a mix of familiar screwdrivers and wrenches with weirdly looking surgeon's tools that he has no idea how to use but thinks that there must be a reason for them to be there!

Thank-you, Anthony. The fact that this seems like a badly-designed exercise for an Excel course speaks volumes about why the Media Bay is such an anchor weighing down my workflow. In fact, I never refer to my "workflow" because it's aleatory. 🎲🎲 Awwwww! snake eyes again...

nonsense. MB has so many possibilities and that´s very good. of course, you have to learn to handle it, but it's worth it. If you don't like the MB, you still have the simple browser in the right zone. That's flexibility.

Holger Steinbrink once mentioned that Cubase is programmed by rather older gentlemen. Is that the reason for this dilemma? 😊
@OneManAndHisSongs7 күн бұрын
30 years of backward compatibility will eventually catch up with you. I understand the reluctance of software developers to cut functionality, because someone's always going to be angry if you do, but I can't see any other way.
@daviHuggMonster9 күн бұрын
the bit I do use steinberg stuff I know they love making stuff more complicated that they actually should be. even installing something thru their installer you get way to many options that are more confusing then useful
@skippyweb9 күн бұрын
Perhaps mention this in the Cubase forum and/or communicate directly to Steinberg. Perhaps, Steinberg should come up with a separate central application to handle the annotation/searching and make this much more easy.
